I’m always delighted when you post a full tutorial here. Patreon memberships don’t fit in my pensioners budget so your full length videos are greatly appreciated. I always paint along after watching it once and my painting has improved a lot this way. Thank you.

A gorgeous painting Joe with so much to learn about working with water colour, including scraping the rocks with a card! As a newbie I have much to learn! Those trees are amazing. Time to get the fan brush and a sea sponge into action.

Thanks so much Joe for sharing your great technique with us. Can’t wait to give this a try. I’m interested to know whether you rewet the back of the paper after you dry it following the first wash - I would imagine that it needs more water to keep sticking to your board?
@JoeCartwright
@JoeCartwright 2 ай бұрын
Oftenn when you dry the top of your paper there is still plenty of water underneath which holds the painting to the board and keeps it flat. However, there does come a time when you may need to re-wet the back. It just take observation and practice. 😊

I enjoyed it😊. Which company is the aureolin you used? After searching, I found that each company has the same name, but the pigment number is different. I'm curious about what company's aureolin you are using. 😊

Wait, if you wetted only the back side of the paper, how come it stays flat? It should bend heavily, unless you wet both sides.
@JoeCartwright
@JoeCartwright 3 ай бұрын
Think in terms of wetting 99% of the way through from the back to the front. The top layer, in that case, has very little impact on the flatness. 😊
@johnytwo

@@JoeCartwright Interesting. Never seen anybody doing it this way. Will try. Thanks for the tip. I have always wetted both sides and if I wanted the front to be drier, I just waited a little.

@@johnytwo Worth doing a little experimenting with the particular paper you are using. Good luck.
