Nice video. I was having the same problem with the acrylic paint and started diluting it and using several Coates and it absorbs a lot better thinner

Hi. I'm trying to antique project colored with acrylic paint. I tried using tan-kote before applying antique, but it gets paint darker and looks like shit. How long you wait after tan-kote applied? Or have you some other tips? Thank you.
@AttackLineLeatherКүн бұрын
@@Azarexify tan kote can darken leather and paint but generally i havnt had that issue. I use water based paints mostly so maybe that changes the outcome. I let my tan kote set till its fully dry. You can build up tan kote layers to build up the ptrotection from the antique. The antique will definitely darken paint and leather.

So the paimt wiping off at the end from The second coat of tancoat? Did it not cure for 24 hours then? I saw the tancoat pulled off some antique as well? It turned put great looking
@AttackLineLeather18 күн бұрын
@@JonRobinsonArt yes some did wipe. Since this video i recommend a minimum of two coats of paint and let dry completely. Antique will get wiped off which cleans up the product

Does the water based paint help keep it from smearing when adding the last tan-kote layer? I've noticed that when I try that using acrylic paint it smears everywhere

The name of the game is absorption. The water based paint penetrates into the leather wat better than acrylic paint. You can water them both down however and build up layers. It is more time consuming. I always stick to the Eco Flo for this reason.

I'm try to make some helmet tags for my crew. I stained everything black, let it dry for a few days and then painted our ladder number in white with multiple coats. After that dried for a few days I applied my tan kote. Everytime I apply the tan kote it either completely peels the white paint off or once it dries it completely cracks and falls off. Any tips?
@AttackLineLeather3 жыл бұрын
Im going to try this since ive never experienced it before. My method would be to paint first and dye around it second. Then apply tan kote

I paint with acrylics and I think that maybe the dye you are using has an oil in it, hence why your acrylics aren't sticking. So yes, paint first and dye second as Attack Line Leather suggested.

How soon after the antique did you to the layer of tan kote?

After you wipe the antique, let it completely dry. Then apply and wipe with tan kote.

Can you dye over paint? With a black let’s say over a brighter color?
@AttackLineLeather Жыл бұрын
I dont. The dye generally has a tough time penetrating into the leather and can also bleed. However, You can paint over dye.

How do you keep your white painted areas bright white after applying antique? Mine always end up with a yellowed tint from the antique smearing even though I wait until it's "dry".

And yes, I use a sealant after painting and before antique is applied.
