Hey !
I've had a ton of requests for gear videos, so I thought I'd start with ATV essentials. I've always carried a small first aid kit but wanted to upgrade and customize it for me and ATV'ing.
I hope you like the video
thanks !

Took the same journey as you with the first aid kit. I got a small My Medic kit with another smaller kit w/kwik cloth dressings and stitch kit. Butterfly bandages are my go to, but if you're stranded or another party comes along with more qualifications it might be handy and these kits take up little space. I chucked the hand sanitizer for alcohol preps. Less bulky, less messy and easier to use. Great video, appreciate your motivation. Pat Wendell on the head for me.

Great topic, and great video. Pointing out the "what if" like you did is a very good. A story that will apply to a future gear video is as follows: My son and I had a roll-over at the top of a very steep hill climb that required some front brake to prevent acceleration when descending. It was so steep the back wheels would drag and you would speed up. The roll-over broke the master and front brake lever assembly off the handle bar. To get it functional so I could get the quad down the hill climb more safely, I was able to wedge a stick between the master and the handle bar and used wire ties and duct tape to clamp the broken part against the handle bar enough to use the front brake lever getting down. I know you would recommend duct tape or at least some kind of fasteners, but a roll of mechanics wire or wire ties and duct tape are essential for the tool bag. Thanks again for your videos. I added a battery jump start power pack on your recommendation a couple years ago, because I do have fuel injection. I would be interested in your reviews of things like folding saws, Leathermans, and other survival items related to ATVing. Maybe winching as a topic unto itself with gear related to getting a bike out of trouble. Thanks again.

Good starter kit, suggest some ASA (aspirin) for someone having heart attack. Buy a few triangular bandages and with a few feminine pads (these are fantastic they are sealed individually, sterile and absorbent help with controlling bleeding) with these 2 items you can deal with majority cuts, breaks and sprains and are inexpensive. Some may laugh but 43 years of experience as forest ranger and first responder/firefighter you learn a few tricks of the trade.

@@DBarnim The feminine pads are a great idea, I see guys talk about using tampons, if you have any experience with actual first aid/emergency situations, you will find out quickly, they do not work and cause more problems than you need. The feminine pads are a much better choice.

Love gear essential videos, always something you can pick up. Love the little pill bottles, gotta get me some. I like to have a bottle of hydrogen peroxide as it is way easier to clean a larger scrape, I also bring aloe vera cream as people burn themselves on exhaust or rad doing trailside repairs. Super glue is great for cuts and blisters. Maxi pads are great for absorbtion as well as a large sticky sealer to go over gauze. I typically replace the cheap bandaids from the kit and replace with the heavy duty thick ones that stretch and water proof. Those will stay on all day Can't wait for the next one.
