A Tribute to Mikio Naruse.
Musique :

I've watched Floating clouds by naruse, very sad story... I realised that Hideko Takamine is a very good actress! Her acting didn't look so convincing to me until now, but how she achieved a subtle change from resigned laugh into sad quiet weeping in about 3 seconds (!) in the movie!!! That scene was so impressive.

@saurabhCherished I am a pessimist serene, or something like that! (forgive me my very bad English!). It has been said of Chekhov that he was "calm, sad and serene." I love this idea. There is a force, an energy in the Naruse's films that goes beyond optimism and pessimism. A stream, a river, a stream, which carries everything.

@saurabhCherished You talk about "Mono no aware" feeling, but for me Ozu's films give more that feeling than Naruse's films. Obviously, the films of Naruse also gives us the feeling of time passing, the touching intimacy of things, this blend of serenity and sadness.

Magnifique hommage rendu au grand Naruse. Superbe travail, bravo.

@Nodytsu Good! Akira Kurosawa called Naruse's style ,"like a great river with a calm surface and a raging current in its depths". Unfortunately I feel the depth, more than the calm surface! He's great director, but his movies are very hard to watch [and find] .I watch them when I'm the mood !! You should try Jun Ichikawa's 'Tony Takitani' ,based on the story of Haruki Murakami.Same 'Mono No Aware' film with surreal touch.Sorry if you've already seen the movie. It's not so great ,but ...!!!!

@saurabhCherished But Ozu's films are more quiet, contemplative, accepted, quiet, with a beautiful silence. In Naruse, there are some storms, some of revolt, disappointment, suffering, strife, separation, poverty. It has a very social side, without being a Marxist either.
