Sadly you won’t find a LMX for £40k. You’d be lucky to find one for double that. High mileage pre facelift R-Tronic V10’s maybe yeah.

@@MBUOffical I have one. Maintenance has been fairly brutal for me. On top of regular servicing and heavy road tax I’ve had mag ride replacement (1k per corner), some paint to fix some areas of light corrosion and I still need to do the air con compressor (4k as engine needs to come out). They are not cheap to run.

Engine DO NOT need to come out for compressor. And you buy the same compressor from VAG for peanuts. Mag ride - rebuild them, also not expensive. I need to do the clutch, V10 clutch is about 1500-2000|, good for 100k km. @@michaelarwas8466

Yer and it would be a great car. 420 bhp and 180 mph is bloody fast. Like really fast especially if you are coming from 140 bhp honda civic and like you said the click clack of a grated manual

Seeing OY07MHL back in TopGear test track felt nostalgic. Now all we need is... I don't know, Alex with a 997.1 Carrera S? Also, OY07MHL was once stricken off Audi's press fleet and got sold. Audi UK themselves admit it was a mistake not to keep an R8 V8 on their historic fleet. But then they found OY07MHL up for sale and bought it back... in a sorry state. Heritage division spent 13 months restoring it and recommissioning it as their fleet until today. Also also you can get manual R8 V10. Will cost you something like GBP50-70k depending on the condition. Get the early V10 manual, you'll be mesmerised by just how good the R8 V10 manual is. Beautiful steering, beautiful balance, fantastic engine and gearbox, and properly usable for everyday stuffs.

Bought mine 6 months ago after being obsessed with them since watching iron man as a kid. Mine is a V8 manual, I can’t ever see myself parting ways with it

The prices quoted here are incredibly misleading. 25k will get you into a high miles catagorised V8 that will need 10k+ to put in acceptable condition. Likewise with the V10. 40k buys you bottom of the barrel that will also need 5 figures invested to put right. Also the LMX you're driving will be more than double the price to get into. The gen1 V10 was available with a manual in all trims except for the GT (rtronic) and the LMX (stronic). Shame the researchers let this video down as the content is pretty good aside from those points.

Really should have done some fact checking first.. 😄 Gen 1 for ‘around’ £25k? Not even the ropiest high mileage category x car on AT is that. The gen 1 V10 pre facelift and facelift cars came with a manual. Lastly, a gen 1 LMX for £40k? I’ll have 2 of those please🙏🙏

For me, the MK1 R8 was the most interesting because of the design, since it contrasted the hard geometric lines of Lamborghini. When the R8 design was also changed to be hard & geometric, it came much closer to the Huracan and in the end, it seemed to be a budget calculation to decide between both.

Couldn’t finish this video too many errors , you most definitely can buy a v10 gen 1 manual and number 2 you can’t get a manual v8 r8 for 25k atleast 30k plus 35k for good one probably abit less even then at that price absolute bargain gen 1 r8 looks so gorjeous and beautiful

I wish these prices were accurate here in the US. The cheapest clean title MK1 R8 with the V8 and manual is $67,000, and an automatic can be found in the $50,000 range.

I would be happy with a 20k v8. That would be a amazing car. 420bhp and 180 mph is still a bloody fast car whatever you say and 99% of people that watch this channel would love a car as fast as that including myself. I would be over the moon with a v8 manual r8.

I had a B8 RS4 with the same 4.2L V8 as the gen 1 R8 and it sounded great, lacking torque and really required working the engine to get the most out of it. Dream car for me has been the RS6 though and I just achieved that dream eith the C7 RS6. Wouldnt say no to both on my drive though! Very good video Rorey, great tribute! Prices are a bit off but none the less, great.

Ditto on the RS6 mate, I'll be in the market for one in a few months! Be a nice change from my stage 2 B8 S4. Might not be a whole lot faster but that V8 TT is to die for. Plenty of good examples around too, love the way that nearly all of the ones advertised have been well looked after by mature drivers. Has to be Sepang blue, non DRC, pan roof, RS exhaust and supersport seats for me and thankfully there are still some nice low mileage minters to choose from with those options. Roll on the spring! Hope you are enjoying yours (pretty sure I don't need to ask though) ;)

@@sarcastixx74 I am for sure, loving it in fact. The one I ended up with had everything you mentioned but has DRC and is panther black. I couldn't find a sepang blue one with everything on it in the right price range or distance. But I've gotta say the DRC in this one isn't as bad as the RS4's and in dynamic it's super nimble. Getting lots of attention wherever I go, car meet or the shops, there's always someone asking about it haha The torque delivery is shockingly instance on this one, from 1350rpm you hit peak at just over 3k. Absolute animal lol

@@JP_RS6 Panther black was another colour I did think about after seeing one that was properly kitted out and running 750+ bhp, looked a serious bit of kit. No doubt yours has extra road presence than the rest with that colour! I know I'll love any V8 TT over my current SC V6 though, the S4 is stupidly quick off the mark and screams hard to redline but as the turbos spin up real fast on the V8 it'll pull hard from low down as you mentioned. Can't wait!

We got plenty of 1st Gen R8 V10s with a manual in the US. I've driven some. Maybe what you say is Euro spec only. Ive even driven a gen 1 V10 manual spider!

My gf has the mk1 with that manual transmission and I have to say it’s is one of the best cars ever built. It’s not a million bucks but looks it all day long 😊 meanwhile I have the mk2 tt manual and it’s almost 😅 as good 😂

You’re sooo lucky in the UK with your super low used car prices. Manual mk1 v8s are still asking $140,000 AUD in Australia. So around £75,000 in the motherland. Count your lucky stars

Why is it whenever there is a roadtest or a review of the original audi r8 its always that one that clarkson drove back then? Would think it was the only one in existence 😂😂
