UPDATE: Sorry I didn’t get around to filming the RS3 when it was first released. Yes, I was late. Sadly I was on holiday at the time of the car’s initial launch. To clarify, yes I know when the car was released. I think the RS3 is “late” to the super hatch party because this latest RS3, with drift mode and big power (putting it as a rival to A45 and Golf R) arrived around June 2021. The latest Golf R debuted earlier that year and the the current A45 arrived in roughly March 2020 - over a year before them both. I have learned my lesson. I will no longer go on holiday. -Rory

One of the better Audi RS 3 reviews. Our 2019 RS 3 is now at 48,335 miles of which 34,710 miles has been fast country back road runs made 3 days a week as weather permits. Only change we made was to install 245/40/18 tires on Neuspeed alloy 18x8.5 wheels (fitted with Michelin AS3+ tires) which was a major improvement during our fast country back road runs. A great vehicle indeed and one of the best I've had now at age 83 and still driving my fast country back roads weekly, as our weather permits.

The UK doesn't get the RS3 Performance. A bit like Audi UK doesn't offer the interior styling pack that the rest of the planet gets. Basically, Audi UK are clueless to what their customers want and I know this has cost them sales.

I love the noise. What an engine and I think this would sway me towards the RS3 over the A45. Enjoy that noise/engine while we can! But, late to the party? The car on test is a 71 plate meaning it was registered between Sep 21 and Mar 22. I'm not sure that qualifies as late.

Don’t apologise for showing this video late, especially since it is impossible to get one new without a speculator premium. When it was launched in 2021, prior to inflation rises it was decent value at £50K basic OTR … one of several last hurrahs for I.C.E.s.

More like £55k and that was for a basic spec that no one would buy given the choice. Most cars specced before the price increase in Dec 21 were hovering around £60k. Impossible to get one? Not if you have one on order. Mine's a tango red carbon sportback with C&S and RS dynamic pack, that was £59k with a little discount back in September 21. Mine will be with me in 10 weeks' time.

FYI the tuning guys In Germany have broken 200 mph with the AMG 45s. Turbo, Intercooler and remap only. No internal mods!

I'd say the prospective owners are different, RS3 owners are the Fast and Furious fans who never stop bleating on about they can bolt on mods and make it 100000000000 HP like that's any use whatsoever on average UK roads, Merc owners I'd say are a bit more grown up.

Picked up mine last June. The engine sounds like a symphony when in RS Performance mode. After driving it for about 6 months it is hard not to stage it. I’m just worried about affecting the warranty. 😅

3 reasons why I’d want the Audi over the merc. That 5-cylinder engine sounds WAY better then the 4-cylinder. Has a good set of exhausts that look amazing (not like the fake plastic shit on the merc) and I prefer the interior in the Audi.

Oh yes, the seatbelts, they drive me to the brink of madness every time I speed through the switchbacks over passes or the tyrolean alps. Annoying. Got a TT RS and same belt problems. Perhaps the only remarkable downside of this car at all. At least I am lucky of not having an e-call system on board, which constantly independently connects to the emergency call center when speeding around. Car's five years old, no GPF, no e-call.

That was a factory time, it would be good to see a factory time by Mercedes. The A45s (7:48) and CLA45S (7:45) times were done by Sport Auto and typically there is a big difference in time. E.g. Renault Megane Trophy R time by Sport Auto was 15 secs slower than the factory effort by Renault. I suspect the Mercs are faster. Do it with stock cars and same driver. Car Expert did that and found the A45s was 1 sec faster around their track. This despite the A45s being a 3 year older car.

@@nickm133 completely on point. People need to better realize that these laptimes aren't comparable, the A45S's 'record' was established by a press driver while the RS3 was a factory time, so it was done by a racing driver and in perfect conditions. In reality, these 2 cars are pretty much neck and neck on a track, zeperfs says so and I tend to trust them the most. And since you mentioned Sport Auto: take every laptime they set with a grain of salt, they are inconsistent with their laptimes and aren't very professional. When they did a Nurburgring attempt with the Focus ST, even though the car they received experienced overheating issues they still pretended like the laptime was valid. Thanks to them you find their laptime on the Focus ST page on lots of laptime websites. Complete amateurs.

The M2 comp is a 6 year old car and was faster than the RS3 of its time and far better to drive. The new M2 to compare against this RS3 is going to be an absolute monster and will destroy the A45S and RS3 it’s 453bhp as standard before the Comp or CS models released. The RS3 is more an M135i or M140i rival let’s be honest.

Bolt ons, tune, and some ethanol and youll be crushing everything, upgrade the turbo and go IROZ, and youre looking at a supercar killer

Don't trust B58 motor, has a history of oil consumption. S58 seems solid so far but new M2 is hideous. RS3 interior is fine for me, this isn't an E class. Jealous haters bag on the interior constantly and it's so played out by now

@@fzr1000981 B58 doesn't have a history of oil consumption at all lol. There were a few Supras with such issues but it's not known what caused them, could be abuse. In any case it's not widespread as you suggest. And if the RS3 interior is ok to you that's fine, but its competitors' interiors are better. The M240i's in particular, it's very well put together.

Why are most RS3 reviews of the Sportback? The sedan is an infinitely better looking car in my opinion. In this case I get it because you are comparing it to the A45 AMG. To my eye the Sportback’s dimensions are just weird. As a 3 door yes but 5 doors? No thanks. Magnificent car in almost every other sense though

The number of folk on here drinking the manufacturer cool aid is unreal. Fastest doesn't matter in the real world, and I'm going to hazzard a guess that not many contributing have ever driven either car. My A110 is 8 seconds slower round the hallowed ring than my last gen RS3. RS was a blunt instrument that hammered the road into submission whereas the Alpine dances over it. The only car I think is more fun was my 205 GTI! Buy what makes you smile, because ring times don't mean sh*t.

Not on the stock motor, I've seen BUILT engines push 950ish but not 1100. Stock you can get a safe 550hp ish without major engine reconstruction

@@epicpvper9379 just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There are simple bolt on 750whp Hybrid turbo kits, there are TTs pushing 1,100whp , and obviously those would be Built up motors, but still HyperCar territory with the insane price tag.

@@vulcanus9384 lmao 750WHP on the stock motor is suicide, 550WHP like the guy above said is about as much as you should push it without internal work - and even that's stretching it. 750WHP is too much even for the stock B58, which has stronger internals and is a bigger engine, and you want that sort of power on the EA855? You need to build the bottom end to get 750hp or you are guaranteed to get a bent rod otherwise I have a tte777 setup , which is a 9 second car - almost untouchable in a straight line on the street - RS3’s are just such weapons!
