In this video we are working on Audi S5 V8, 4,2FSI. The car was delivered on a recovery truck in poor condition. There was no MOT, because it was traveling for 14 months from workshop to workshop and nothing that was done did not help. So we put some work into it and make it road legal again! Have a look at the progress in the video.
We replaced:
-Timing chain kit
-Rocker cover gaskets
-Front / rear crankshaft seal
-Midle gasket for oil check valves
-Water pump gaskets
- Thermostat
-Starter motor
-Rear level sensor
-Refurb rear subframe / ofset washers / bolts / nuts
-Oil change twice with BG flush
-Cluster was replaced / coded / milage corection on cluster
-Generaly clean the whole car
If you have similair car and you need help you can get in contact with us by email.

A someone who has an s5 (2013) I saw the car at the beginning and thought "who did this to you, you poor baby?" I love my car, but that 4.2 is an amazing engine, and it is heartening to see you bring her back to health. Great job!

I own a 2009 S5 with the updated inlet manifold. Wonderful car if rather scary mechanically. I note on a couple of videos you mention using VCDS to diagnose the operation of the engine timing and solenoids. I would be really appreciate a video on how to use VCDS to indicate the state of the timing, and isolate potential issues, prior to having to remove the entire engine and gearbox for a visual investigation.

Hi, Thanks for watching , well Miroslav was working for Audi for a while , I learned the hard way. Bought myself a V8, possibly everything was wrong with it so that was my first and very expensive experience ... Since then we try to do them on a daily basis . For £ .... we can make a living out of it and some jobs are more tight with budget some are better.

Hi, I found that dry air in a can, from PC world, keyboard cleaner works amazing to clean carbon build up, no mess at all and leaves it as new, please try it, just get one can and try it on a old engine, you will be shocked,, I'm no mechanic but i had to change the oil filter housing gasket and oil cooler gasket on my audi s4 4.2 v8.... I was not looking to clean at all just blow out some dirt that might of fallen into the ports,, I sprayed the dry air down the hole and the hole port and valve looked as good as new,,,, well worth a try,,, all the best jamie

Not sure if you know, didn't see it in video but the coolant passages that go through the timing covers have 2 o rings each. As in 4 total. The tubes are pressed tight into the cover and if you separate it you will find another crunchy o ring.

I had an A6 allroad 2.7 twin turbo. Didnt drive it much but what a car. When I sold it nobody wanted to give the time of day for it. Sadly Audi's are notorious for engine problems. And very high maintenance. Once they get a couple of years on their value is zilch. Needed a height level sensor and eventually got one from a garage selling an allroad for spares. Audi tips the proverbial tail out the chicken when it comes to spares prices. The Audi in this video would have been deemed too expensive to repair. I now have a Prado 120 with a Kzte 3 liter turbo engine that's done 220k on clock and runs like a sewing machine. Repairs dont cost an arm and a leg and able to do all myself. Busy repair/ replacing bolts that previous owner (supposedly a mechanic) butchered. Sadly have to pull parts out to get butchered bolts out. Had a brake booster motor pack up and had to take master cylinder out to have it repaired. Cost me about R600 and all good again. The above repair almost cost what my Prado cost me. Just reason it is it worth it in the end

Is this the same 4.2 BVJ block that's in my old 2008 A6 S-Line daily driver, they look similar? She's nearing 155k miles and ive been wondering how much longer she's got left in her? Runs great, no issues but a minor oil leak in over 11 yrs of owning it. I did get the multiple cylinder misfire several years ago and ended up being one of the solenoids as well but that's it. I've a 2016 C7.5 A7 as well as my weekend driver...but just wondering when if I should be trying to get rid of the 08 for something, a little newer lol...... great channel by the way! you guys are awesome!

I had one just like that. In fact before I saw the euro license plate, I thought it might have been my old one. Absolute worst car I have ever owned. Had it for three years (almost to the day). It ran for 180 days. $15k in repairs + $2400 in storage fees later, it left on a flatbed never to return. I was never so happy to see the back of a car in all my days.
