Former audio lover and back in the game since my teens (now being 52 years old) I bought as a beginner set the Klipsch RP-8000F, Audiolab6000a with a ZEN streamer. Have noting to compare with but wow how have times changed. Loving this current set-up

Midrange and high sounds brighter and clear, wider and roomier. That's how the Audiolab sounds. It better defines the instruments. But i missed jazz and classical music to properly separate these two good amplifiers. Conclusion... Marantz sounds always good but the winner is the Audiolab

Interesting video. Unfortunately I can hear too many artifacts of the room and compression from KZfaq so maybe not the best comparison out there but thanks nonetheless. Between the two, the Audiolab has the fuller sound and is the one I'd be able to listen to for longer periods.

I couldn't make my mind up, so i bought the Audiolab, 3 months later bought the Marantz . Very happy with both .. The Mission qx1 - qx2 goes great with both amps .

Every comment is subjective,as mine too.I hear the marantz warmer but almost head-to head for me.One think found different-on the second track the cymbals more detailed and cleaner at marantz.It is only one case/method in a given audio chain with a given room acoustic. And as others wrote these songs not the best for test/comparison. cue: pm7000n produce one in one my pm7005 sounding,I hear it without looking at the screen... I wanted to change it to audiolab 6000a but I am not sure it is a big different to change.I use cd5005 for source,with the pm7005 it is a beautiful and success system in synergy.

The microphone used for this video does not do either equipment any justice.... These are both excellent amplifiers, but the Marantz is slightly more dynamic and crisp if you listen to them in person.

Both amplifiers are excellent. I use the Audiolab 6000A (previously Naim) and it sounds superb. This is my first impression after listening to this comparison here: The KEF Speaker overlays the sound with its typical midrange, nasal-like tuning. It is crucial which amplifier is better suited to the properties of these specific speakers. I would also prefer less electronic music and more acoustic instruments. I know roughly what a piano should sound like, but it is not clear how the synth sound was intended.

Audiolab for me. Marantz is a hint more expensive with more options though.

I'm surprised, because Marantz are generally known for warmth, but in this case, the Audiolab sounds warmer and fuller to me, and the Marantz sounds slightly thinner and brighter, with a more recessed midrange too. I can see now why some think the LS50 is too thin and bright, because it needs to be paired with a really gutsy amp to sound at its best

In Malaysia it is a "NO Brainer"...... Marantz is overpriced in this part of the world. Luckily Audiolab is here to save the day...

Excellent video... these types of videos are hard work. Were both amps set to flat ? I know Marantz was since sourcebdirect was on. Audiolab had more bass, but i prefer the marantz clarity and dynamics. Both very close though.

I thought the Audiolab would win by a mile, but the Marantz is just a bit worse in the midrange, otherwise almost equal. Speakers with a fuller midrange could be a good match for the Marantz.

Hello, in my audiolab 6000a i have a transformer hum, audible when i bend over the top cover is this normal?

I have both of these as well as CX-A81. I tried 5 different amplifiers for my test. I prefer a warm full sound and the Marantz is the best of them all to me by a long shot in terms of sound quality. If you take into account features, then the others are not even comparable to the Marantz.

For me, the Audiolab, I've yet to hear a better, more neutral, uncoloured sounding amplifier regardless of price. However, its not really a test as such, music that is so undemanding can hardly bring the best out of any audio equipment.

I noticed that the Marantz PM7000N, source direct mode was selected, would like to see the comparison if the source direct mode was off

In this video I like the Audiolab 6000A more. The voice is clearer in the first song and key instruments are easier to distinguish from each other and sound more natural in the second song. This is what I hear on my headphones.

The winner is very obvious...Audiolab with full range, wide sound stage and authoritative sound. Amazing budget amp.

Marantz have detailed and open sound. Audiolab have fuller and rich sound. Both have great tonal range, sound stage and stereo imaging. I guess it depends on the speakers you have. If you have a warm and mellow speakers, go with the Marantz. If you have bright and forward speaker, go with the Audiolab. Either way you have a great network integrated amplifier that has good value for money.

All it said is that the audiolab has a better match with the speakers, change speakers and it might be the other way around

Damn you're really blasting that Audiolab at -10! Understandably you're using the LS50 Meta at 85db sensitivity, my speakers are rated at 86db sensitivity, but I've never really gone beyond -25 on the volume lol. It's unnaturally too loud for me! But good to know that I have all that headroom in case I decide one day I wanna piss my neighbors! Lol!

Soundstage is a bit better with Audiolab + musical separation is a bit better + dynamics about the same.

The Marantz has wobbly basetones, like they don´t get to play when other instruments takes to much place. It it KZfaq or for real?

The Audiolab seems to be more focused sounding, with more definition and mid bass weight, but for me the Marantz's less analytical sound is sweeter and less likely to cause fatigue. I think it's mainly the sonic qualities of their different amplifier types.

Audiolab is more dynamic clearer punchier with excellent midrange warm sound ……reminds me of Rotel ra 1520…….Marantz classic not so detailed a bit laid back not so clean but good

I have compare your recordings to original songs, and it would seem that your mic or speakers are exagerating nasal sound and also making it all sound much thiner, more dry, less bassy, and you loose that delicasy and detail in singer voice. Those shortcomings are so pronounced that they make there own sound character.

Marantz beats audiolab due to its HDAM modules. It's simply. I'm a fan of ken ishiwata and, obviously, of its philosophy and products. I prefer marantz! Beautiful comparison review.
