Many have been stating that the first part was all white people, and that was the nice area. Actually, this was filmed during Master's week. Those people are rich people, from out of town, here to see the golf tournament. Normally that road (Washington Rd.) does not have a lot of people walking up/down it, and there are just as many black people there as there are white. That is not a 'nice area'. It's not 'bad' either. We do have some rougher areas in the Augusta area, just like any city. I just wanted to clarify that the first part wasn't the 'white' part of town.

@C Jones negative sir..I lived in Columbia county and it was beautiful. Perhaps you didnt branch out
@hankbridges50555 жыл бұрын
@Lakesha James The first part is Washington Rd. and all those trailers are at Sandra Kennedy's church. That area isn't bad year-round and it's mostly white. From Lake Almstead down is blacks. If they could tear- down those shantys around 15th St. behind Kroger and build new houses or apartments for the hospital employees, it would prosper. But Kroger went to GRU and Augustans are leaving! Evans has business but Augusta is dying. One day, Augusta will be a ghost town. There aren't many low-income apartments in Augusta. It's not as bad as some places. There just aren't jobs available.

@hankbridges50555 жыл бұрын
@@meliplay At the end of Eisenhower Dr., James Brown had a radio station, WRDW- AM, FM. It was a small brick building. During a commercial, he'd say, 'Hey, this is the Godfather of Soul, James Brown on WRDW- a.m. f.m., your soul-classic station!' Then they'd play, 'I feel good, you know that I would!' It was just below that baseball field, Eisenhower field, near T. Harry Garrett Elementary School. It was on the left near the train tracks. What they don't show you on TV is that Augusta is located between a lake, river and swamp, meaning it might be only 78 out side but you can stand in the shade and have a river of sweat dripping off you from the humidity. And winter is no better.

Augusta is good place to raise a family if you are established in your career or can find a good job. The only knock on Augusta is the lack of things to do. I will say that Augusta is a little rough. As far as being dangerous, Augusta is basically like south and east Atlanta with less crime. Every time im in these areas it reminds me of home. I remember as a teenager the biggest difference between Atlanta and Augusta was the mentality of the club goers. In Augusta clubs be prepared to fight and in Atlanta be prepared to talk to some girls. Things may have changed because that was over 10 years ago. I always joke with people and say that everybody in Augusta have a little James Brown in them.

Like many golf courses that were built many years ago Augusta National is not exactly in the best part of town or at least in 2018 it isn't. Things change and people move out further and further away from downtown. When that happens the course can be surrounded with less than desirable real estate. Although I believe there are at least some nice areas just outside of Augusta National. Maybe on the backside of the course??

This isn’t where augusta national golf course is. Only a small portion of the video is the tournament area. The rest is a tour of the public housing off of Old savannah road and the avenues. It’s about a 15 minute drive without traffic. An hour drive during tournament

Wow my dad is from Augusta, and still have family there. I attended Barton Chapel Elementary, Morgan Road Middle and a brief time at Glenn Hills. However, when the mission changed for Fort Gordon, it effected the economics, like every where else. Granted, those times were innocent, I will forever treasure them. That housing project looked like Delta Manor. Talk about bleeding a turnip, for government control, that been there for over 60 years.

The money generated from the masters, taxes, grants, etc is for THE CITY OF AUGUSTA. NOT THE CHOSEN. This is what I interpreted the video to mean. However Read the Bible. It explains why the Israelites are in such dyer straits. But Yah has not forgotten his chosen people.

Im from South Africa. Can you advise why people abandon houses like that there in the States? Do families just decide to move to other places and just leave houses like that? Why? They can't get buyers or something? What was the precedence to all this? Yeah well the area doesn't look dangerous and I like the fact that people don't throw rubbish on the ground. But surely many of those houses (I mean where I am seeing those beautiful cars and folk sitting) can just buy a spade and trim the grass themselves, some flowers and paint and that place will look beautiful. Frankly I wouldn't have my house beautiful sitting next to an abandoned next-door; I'd rather cut their grass at least so that it doesn't affect the value of my pty even as it is abandoned - you need to defend the beauty of your neighbourhood, it does have great potential. Tx

Sounds like a bunch of people on here deflecting the poverty in this city. Hmm let me guess the people that don’t live in it or only go for the masters so they want to ignore the issue. Like people saying “plenty of bad parts in every town” well we aren’t talking about every town we are talking about Augusta !!!!

This video is 3 years old and has no words. Two things: 1. Three years ago Augusta was well into the race of becoming the heartbeat of America in Cybersecurity. 2. The areas being shown in the video that viewers are calling the hood. If you go there today it’s being gentrified. The city is changing and pushing lower class to the south side and other out skirts areas. Augusta has grew 200k population over the last 3 years. I would advice anyone that think Augusta,GA is a dying city look into Urban Planning. Last if Augusta,GA want to be better get them old farts out of office put some fresh minds and legs in charge.

@martystevens39696 жыл бұрын
Paolo Donzella I went to school with Hulk Hogan from the 6th-10th grade. I watched Hulk-A-Mania being born right before my eyes on the playground in the 6th. I was standing about 6 ft. away from him. He came up with the name in the 6th when he was 13. His REAL name is Rick Williams. He went to A. Brian Merry Elementary, John M. Tutt Jr. High, and Westside High School. He has a sister Beverly and a brother Larry. He was on the football team in the 6th, 7th, not the 8th, and he was on the team 9-12th. I've posted a picture of him on Home Page in the 8th! If you want me to post it again I will. Let me know.

Paolo Donzella On Home Page on G+ I put his 8th grade picture from my 8th grade yearbook! I have that yearbook right here in my room! In the 6th, he was sitting next to my right when a girl across the room said 'Rick Williams says he's going to become a wrestler and he's going to call himself Hulk Hogan.' A feeling came over me that it's true and I said 'I believe we have a celebrity in our presence.' It turned out to be true! Rick, he became Hulk Hogan! He had that gravely voice even when he was in the 6th grade. His boyhood home is at 3104 Sussex Rd. in Augusta, Ga. It's yellow with double open ended carport. There's bordergrass on both sides of the driveway. The driveway slants. Check MAPQUEST.

I was just referring that in some hoods, gangs block off their streets so anyone who drives down is at risk regardless of who you are or what you look like. They will spike the road, pull you out and rob you for driving in their hood.
@martystevens39696 жыл бұрын
Clean With Confidence Yes, in some areas they do. It brings down property values. The city can't afford to clean up everything. Vacant houses collapsing can be torn down. Usually the city foots the bill.
