Daryl and Jesse smashed out this external cosmetic restoration of our Panhard EBR-90 late last year. It was a quick restioration... but it certainly wasn't easy!
Even though it's not a runner for the moment, it's still a fantastic addition to the AusArmour Collection!
Follow the progress of our workshop restorations every Workshop Wednesday! A must watch for students of history, engineering, mechanics and metalworking! 🧐🛠️

I often drive past one of these 8 wheel Panhards, parked outside the French army artillery division barracks in Draguignan. In late September, from my house in the village of Tourtour, up in the Var mountains, I hear the artillery practicing in the Camp de Canjuers, a large military exercise area, a bit north of me. I am guessing that it would be quite difficult to source a running flat 12 gasoline engine, which I believe was 12 cylinders, pistons and con rods from a flat twin Panhard Dyna car mounted on a flat 12 crankcase and with a custom crankshaft. Would you like me to talk to the artillery museum people in Draguignan and ask if they know where an engine might be sourced in France?

You can tell that the Frenchmen who built the Panhard EBR-90 took a lot of pride in the work and were masters at their craft. French engineering is always so unique and impressive. It's so cool that we have one on display in Australia.

Very clever French with two drivers (one each end) so that they canjust as fast in either direction ,as "Oddball" said in the movie Kellys Heros, "get out of trouble as fast as they got into it"

Several armoured cars had that feature, i think there is an italian one with dual steering in the imperial War Museum in Johannesburg South Africa. For use in mountainous areas where u can't turn around on single lane tracks.

How Daryl & Jesse figure out how these mangled wrecks piece together is simply astounding! Daryl's comment about Al was classic Aussie banter at 14:51! "This is the good thing about having old people here, he might have had a pet dinosaur but he's got bloody good ideas." 😁 - well said. The (Frankenstein) EBR-90 sure came a long way, well done by all involved!
