Just as a warning, outdoor lizards need Ultraviolet light to survive. Without it they begin to get severely sick over the course of weeks. Windows tend to block UV so even that is not enough. They also need a reliable source of heat. Some found some, but others may have not. If they don't heat their body enough per day, they'll become sick, lethargic, and won't move or eat much. Then they die after a few weeks because their organs cannot function without proper blood flow. Also stress from being introduced to a new environment can often lead them to commit suicide by not moving or eating anymore. The one on your piano may be not reacting to you for this very reason.

In my house, spiders are the solution to my insect problem. I live in a colder climate though, so the range of both insects and spiders is rather small. From what I know, I have one giant house spider in each room - we are good at avoiding each other, and I haven't seen a silver fish in a really long time now. Thank you, house spiders.

@@sebastianreade9079daddy long legs are the only spiders I let live in my house. I had one who lived in the bathroom, he'd set up at the indented base of the vanity unit. I caught a small mothlike bug once and threw it still alive into the web and Harry, yes Harry, immediately pounced on it. I actually felt real bad for the tiny moth I'd consigned to a horror film reality.

I had a decent size spider that would just chill up on its web in the corner or my apartment for months. I almost never seen it move until I noticed it getting closer over my computer desk. I’m afraid of spiders but knew this guy was an ally so I tried hard not to panic. One day, I couldn’t take it anymore and had to try and get him outside so I grabbed a broom to hold him on so I can transport him outside. It was a struggle, but after successfully getting him on the broom, I lost track of where he was at on the bristles and panicked. So instead of bringing him out the front door like I should’ve, I opened up my balcony door (I’m on the 3rd floor) and hung the broom over the railing. I thought he would just Spider-Man himself down but I moved the broom in a way where he fell off and I was extremely upset. Even though it’s been a year since that happened, I still think about him and wish he understands it wasn’t supposed to end like that

I actually have been using spiders that I place in strategic locations around the house to get rid of all other insects for 3 years now with great success. With cold weather coming, some geckos introduced themselves inside the house this year and I decided to let them be. Generally around this time of the year I get invaded by all sorts of insects trying to survive winter, notably stink bugs, which the spiders seem to let through, probably because of their armor, size or smell, but this year I have not seen a single stink bug or any other insect so far and I think I owe it to the geckos.

Living in Sweden I've got the opposite problem with too many fruit flies in house and a ton of spiders living under the slate stones outside of the house - so I tried to introduce some spiders into my apartment. Spiders are really small here since the cold climate, I figured they're the right size for these buggers. Yet it didn't go too well. The spiders didn't want to live in the window area whereas all the food where hanging out. They always got too scared an hid somewhere in the roof area instead. So close yet one and a half meter away =[ what a bummer.

@zthulu2540
@zthulu2540 4 жыл бұрын
@Draggy654 Or maybe, just maybe... during winter, in the NORTHERN HEMISPHERE, it's too cold for most bugs. Some bugs hibernate in the winter, copulate and produce less offspring, and simply don't wander around too much, as that uses a lot of energy, and there's less natural food in winter. Additionally, bugs already are pre-programmed via instinct to do so. Sealed windows help, but for many houses, dilapidation leads to random small cracks bugs find. You can't just stop bugs from coming in 100%. This doesn't really apply to bugs already infesting your house, though, only those that want to go in.

You should set up a lizard “chill zone” with a little indoor fountain feature, plants, and most importantly, uvb lighting. Those cute little spider catchers are going to need a good source of uvb if they are living inside, as the glass of your windows filters out the uvb they need to grow and thrive ;)
