Everyone says he sounds like Waylon. I hear a mix of a few Country greats, but mainly just hear Sturgill Simpson. He is a legend in his own right.

I hear and see a lot of Keith Whitley in Sturgill myself. But, I agree, the man is a legend unto himself.

Nobody cares, but the amount of discipline the drummer has and understanding of his place and each song is amazing. That type of playing is hard to come by anymore but I love it

What´s the name of the lead-guitarist? Thanks for help. ... update: found it: It´s Laur Joamets
@angelamayberry95218 жыл бұрын
+freudensammler - Giorgio Carlocitta Laur Joamets say like "LA-owr". He's Estonian, and shreds with such class- ridiculously good. In circles he's known as 'Lil Joe'. Sturgill's producer found him and brought him to Nashville, I think. Man's got skills- you'd swear that was a pedal steel your ear was hearin'

Listen to the Cuttin’ Grass version.. basically a bluegrass version.
@sgenetti772 жыл бұрын
Man, you really should check out their studio recordings before proclaiming that about Laur Joamets. This blistering live sound he's using is more broken-up than it is on most of the stuff on the records, more distorted. That dude plays Telecasters exclusively I believe and he gets a lot of different tones out of them, including straight country twang, imitating steel guitar with his slide and pinkie on the volume knob, a bunch of stuff. Sturgill is a great musical artist. He's not quite country or Americana or whatever label, just like Billy Strings isn't straight bluegrass either, and that's another artist that's just simply incredible as a player and songwriter.
