We dont use that much artificially light at night in germany. Even in the most populated areas in germany (north-rhine-westfalia) (where i live in) you can see a clear and bright star heaven at night. We just dont have that much of light polution here. Great reaction and much love to australia from germany :) :) :)

Fun fact on the side... Some types of half-timbered houses are designed so that they can be dismantled and relocated. A lot of things can be reused. The roof tiles, the beams that form the construction basis, down to the clay that forms the "masonry"...

Teil 2 15:08 Hamburg Elbphilharmonie, one of the major projects, which took 16 years to build. Whenever the state builds something, it is 3 times as expensive as planned. But it is now really an amazing house and a great concert hall. 15:35 Bismarck Monument (Bismarck was Chancellor in Prussia and created the German Empire) 15:46 Freiburg ..here lives the "The Black Forest Family" from the USA whose YT videos I had recommended many times :-) 16:04 Frankfurt, which is also called Mainhatten, a homage to Manhattan. The only German city with a skyline reminiscent of US American cities, but the old town is very typically German, as you found out yourself in 16:13. 16:48 exactly, Germany, although it is 20 times smaller than Australia and has 3.5 times the population of Australia, is incredibly different in terms of landscapes, people and cultures. Yes, the film is nice, but only shows a sixth of Germany. The film omits large parts of northern Germany, the many different islands, it omits the Spreewald, a forest with water channels in which you can only move by boat, it underestimates Germany's national parks, the volcanic landscape with bubbling lakes and geysers, the Lüneburg or Wahner heath, Germany Alpine region, the low mountain range, the Mecklenburg Lake District, so beautiful... and also omits Germany's industrial areas and their big cities and industrial monuments. 18:50-18:59 the region I come from, the ´Seven Mountains´ "Siebengebirge" (National Park) and next door the former capital of West Germany Bonn. Today, after all, the headquarters of Haribo (gummy bears), Telekom (T-online/ T-mobil) now inter alia the 3 largest provider in the US, and the Deutsche Post / DHL. Is DHL known in Australia? 19:36 Chalk cliffs on the island of Rügen on the Baltic Sea. 19:39 Münster, the bicycle city (like Amsterdam) of Germany 20:11 - 20:16 again my home region (Dragon Castle "Drachenburg" in the "Siebengebirge" - where Siegfried killed the dragon - great German saga) 20:28 Wartburg, this is where Luther translated the Bible into German and thus also created High German, a dialect that all German tribes understood. The Bible was later translated from this "new" High German into French and English. 20:48 Eltz Castle is still owned by the Eltz family, who still live there, in order to maintain the castle, the owners open the castle to visitors, Eltz Castle is one of the 3 must-see castles in Germany [1) Neuschwanstein Castle, 3 ) Castle Hohenzollern, 3) Eltz Castle] But there are lesser-known yet enchanting castles, such as Marienburg Castle near Hildesheim in Lower Saxony (always overlooked) as well as Sigmaringen 20:46 21:33 Amöneburg, I've never heard of that, sorry 22:49 Lindau is a city on an island in Germany's largest lake, but the film doesn't show the island location at all. Well maybe the port where the ship leaves. 23:22 Görlitz (Görliwood - colloquial :-), many Hollywood films were filmed here, because in Görlitz there are still districts from every era (early 1910s, 20s, 30s, etc.)...an example “The Grand Budapest Hotel” In between, Speyer and Worms were briefly shown, two cities which played an important role during the Holy Roman Empire and have important churches worth seeing. Speyer is also known today as Europe's largest space exhibition. 23:38 Schloss Elmau (one of Germany's "Camp David"), where for example the G7 meetings take place. 23:42 here you can see the square arrangement of a city that later became dominant in the USA. 24:03 "Teufelsmauer" devil wall..a rock formation in the northern Harz Mountains. At over 1000 meters, the Harz Mountains are the highest peaks in northern Germany. 24:48 in Karlsruhe is the seat of the highest German court. Germany is a federal state, many state institutions are spread across Germany, so not all power is concentrated in Berlin.

What? You don't know? hehe -Teufelsmauer looks fantastic - Karlsruher rings a bell I didn't see too many ruined castles and churches. or are they just not shown? Thanks for the effort in your comments, You seem very proud to be German :}

@@runnynose8341 Sydney Opera House: I know the story about it and its Danish architect. Graffiti is actually always a protest, but in this case it can hardly come close to the importance of the graffiti on the Berlin Wall. Germany has 16 national parks and around 9000 nature reserves. Impossible to describe them all. ... I'll continue tomorrow, I think.

I would like to allow myself a clear reaction to the reaction: Sylt, a lovely beach, you wouldn't expect Germany to have nice beaches! In my opinion it is arrogant to expect that any country that has a sea coast does not also have beautiful beaches! And I suspect that the consequences of the propaganda of the First World War are still at work here, according to which Germany is the land of Huns and barbarians, but in which there can (or should) be nothing beautiful!
@runnynose8341
@runnynose8341 8 ай бұрын
arrogant yes, that's why I was shocked, I assumed that Germany was a cold country, and the beaches would be not of a very good quality , I think that is what I said, nothing to do with ww1, just my perception, but thanks for the comment, Ohh by the way , what are your perceptions of Australia or the Philippines BTW? would love to hear.

Teil 1 1:00 half-timbered house..."Fachwerkhäuser" 2:30 Cologne Cathedral "Kölner Dom" (157 meter high), it is often claimed that it took 630 years to build it. Well, the buildings actually rested for 300 years. The "Dom" holds 40,000 people and will never be finished. 3:08 There are actually spots in Germany where there is no light pollution. 5:15 The core city of Paris has 2 million inhabitants, but all the suburbs/boroughs are interwoven with Paris. If you count it (just like London includes its boroughs (keyword Greater London), then Paris has 10,706,072 inhabitants, which is 1.7 million people larger than London. Berlin has “only” 3.6 million inhabitants. 6:00 the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ((Meckpomm or McPom 😉colloquial )) meets in this castle. 9:04 there is also the Spanish model, in which there is a square arrangement (see Mannheim) 9:15 Monschau on the Belgian border is a "mustard town", you can buy thousands of mustard varieties here. 9:57 Ulm Minster, a Protestant cathedral, the 161.53 meter high tower is the tallest church tower in the world. 10:06 Yes, Hermann (Arminius), driving the Romans out of Germania, (Battle of the Teutoburg Forest) 10:49 this rock formation is called Saxon Switzerland "Sächsische Schweiz" 11:08 The University of Heidelberg was founded in 1386 11:33 No, not a copy of Versailles (Bavarian King Ludwig II tried that with "Herrenchiemsee Palace" and couldn't finish it) But the New Palace in Potsdam was just a building to impress other kings, otherwise it had no function. 12:27 Dresden (not Roman but Baroque architecture) was destroyed by the British for no reason, the old town was rebuilt in its old glory and is considered "Florence on the Elbe". - It was also the British who donated a lot of money after the reunification of Germany to rebuild the "Frauenkirche" (the baroque beauty, one of the most beautiful Protestant cathedrals ever) in 2005 it was completed according to old plans.

- Does Fach mean cross? - think Central Australia might have you in the / no light pollution -Is it true you can still find Roman equipment in the forest? or just Old wives tales. -Dresden was the most bombed city in Germany I think, Also maybe they did have a reason lol, Manila was the most bombed in the entire war , this city was leveled about 5 times

@@runnynose8341 It's been more than 20 hours now, I don't always find time for YT, sorry - "Fach" = the spaces formed by the load-bearing beams (compartment) - in deserts, high mountains or North Korea there is no light pollution at night. - you always find it Items from Roman times, recently a whole ship in the Adriatic (a part of the Mediterranean Sea) - Dresden was a city of arts and culture and was of no military importance at all. The British wanted to destroy German identity. After the war: 60% of all German factories were not destroyed, but cities like Dresden up to 90%, which were full of children, women and old people. - I only have a vague idea of what led to the Japanese war with the world, but the older I get, I will also deal with the Pacific. Due to the rise of China, that's on the agenda anyway.

Burg Eltz is probably my favourite castle. It was never conquered and a branch of the original family still lives in a non public part of it. Yes the Bismarck statue could definitely get a cleaning. Being in a park near the red light destrict it is exposed to some of the not so desired side effects of that red light destrict. 😁But as usual: you can't have it all. 😂 Greetings from Hamburg.

It's called half-timbered house. In German that would be Fachwerkhaus. A Fach is a compartment. Werk is craft and Haus is house. Now you also know what Handwerk means. It is craftsmanship. Literally it is hand crafts. Happy to help. 🙂

The huge house with the tower and the bridge on the river is a medieval town hall. The bishop of Bamberg (this is the place) owning the land denied the city to build a town hall on church owned lands, so they decided to build on the river instead, to give it to them! It's a saga and nobody really knows, whether it's true or not...

Most cities and towns in germany were indeed build around the churchs, centuries or decades ago. An interesting fact though, if you're trying to missinate people in germany nowadays, that's actually a crime, since you don't have the right to force/ confince other people to your own believe.
