Thank you for liking what you saw on the video. We have a lot of history in Europe. A lot of bloody wars had been faught among different tribes and ethnic or religious groups. That's why you see so many castles as means of power over certain lands and truces of protection against greedy neighbours or even kingdoms. You can find places of history all over Europe. But all of these places tell the same stories of religion, power and unhinged violence. Yet today we have monumental churches in some of the cities, "romantic" castles or ruins, old town's houses, some dating back many centuries. But we also sometimes have both, utterly boring or really exciting modern day's architecture. That's all over Europe, not just Germany as some here already said.

The red and gray roofs are region dependent and are all medieval town centers whose houses are faithfully restored. Germany has many old cities and old wonderful buildings and were built centuries ago that were all pictures of medieval town centers that have been preserved as good as original.

The houses aren't as simple as they seem, german houses are constructed to last forever some houses you see are built in the 1600 and even older. We are lucky to not have many tornados or earthquakes but even if we had I am sure our houses wouldn't be completely gone because ot their structure. =)

It is a wonderful video, because it goes across whole of Germany, and every major city or typical local landscape is shown briefly. And it shows every place only once. I look outside my window, and see one prominent building from one scene of the video, from the same perspective. Basically inside my living room window is the same picture as in the video. But even more beautiful is your reaction.

If we hadnt done the foolishnes in the 1930s and 40s where basicly every city was bombed into rubble there would be even more nice places, because not every city got rebuild with the historical buildings.

I was born and I am living in Germany near Stuttgart since decades. The movie you watched shows (only) the surface of some artifical buildings, built over hundreds of years - a move accompanied by heroic music. But what really makes it beautiul? First of all you yourself make it beautiful by looking at it with your beautiful innocent positive heart. But the history of these buildings and in all other european countries is quite dark - except for rich citizens. Some unfortunate poor people paid a heavy price for the erection of these buildings. The german people today have joy and sadness as well, there is some success and more failure when you ask them. Concerning nature or environment there raise more problems in shorter and shorter time than can be solved. We're researching it costly but we can't solve the slightest part. The details are interesting and more complicated the more you learn about them. I wish we, the Germans, would be more thankful, righteously and satisfied with what we have here, we could be happy all the time but instead we want to consume more, own more and work harder where others would relax in serenity. So Germans would do well to learn from the 'joie de vivre' of the African people and maybe from you? (by the way: I enjoyed watching your comments on Volker Pispers political stuff.)
