I was born and raised in Chicago. We got him when I was a junior in high school. We couldn't believe how lucky we were to get him in the draft and see him night after night. I've seen him play in person a dozen or so times and let me tell you, these highlights don't do him justice. We have NEVER seen anyone like him. Black Jesus is the G.O.A.T.🐐 Great reaction!! Now you GOTTA check out his defensive highlights. He's a 10 time scoring champ who lead the league in scoring AND was the defensive player of the year the same year. I think the video is called Michael Jordan defensive predator or something.

Hey Roos, to answer your question, “Does he ever miss?” My favorite quote of all time: I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times I’ve been trusted with the game winning shot… and missed. I’ve failed over, and over, and over in my life… and that is why I succeed. - MJ Look up “Nike Michael Jordan “failure” ad, it’s quite poignant. Much love from NC, USA

Imagine turning on your TV set in 1985 and seeing this. I would just look over at my dad, and he'd look at me, and we'd both be shaking our heads in disbelief. The Bulls were a horrible franchise before Michael arrived. It was like the basketball gods dropped a gift into the city.

My gosh, I enjoyed this immensely! Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player to ever. I believe he was recently asked if the 1993 Chicago Bulls would beat today’s Los Angeles Lakers with superstar Lebron James. He said [paraphrasing] “Yes, we would win by 6 points.” Asked why would it be such a close game, Jordan responded, “Well, we would be in our 60’s.”

The only NBA player without a flaw. He was actually better than the hype, and he had the biggest hype machine around him ever. He kept adding skills to his game, season after season. If he didn't retire for 1-3/4 seasons in the 90s, the Bulls probably win 8 consecutive championships.

I'm as big an MJ fan as anyone. The Bulls couldn't have won 8 straight. That's just too exhausting for any team. 82 regular season games followed by 20 or so playoff games for 8 straight years? And MJ wasn't like modern players. There was no load management. He didn't take nights off. Jordan needed that break between 3peats both mentally and physically.

Michael Jordan in 1988, had the most impressive individual season of any player ever. MJ won 1988 NBA MVP, 1988 NBA All Star game MVP, 1988 NBA Scoring title, 1988 NBA Slam Dunk contest, 1988 NBA Defensive player of the year, 1988 NBA Steals title. Winning a NBA Championship was only thing he didn't accomplish in 1988. 3 years later MJ would win his first ring. Enjoy watching your content especially regarding sports.

Crazy thing is there’s about 20 or so Hall of Fame players in these playoff and finals games that never won a ring. It wasn’t cause they weren’t good or their team wasn’t good. It’s because Michael and the Bulls were also playing that year. And MJ never let them lose in the 90’s

Slight correction: MJ only won MVP & DPOTY simultaneously once. But the fact that is actually mind blowing to me is him winning 10 scoring titles while also being 10 times all-NBA 1st team and 9 times all-defensive 1st team.

As a lifelong Laker fan, I hated Michael Jordan. Still do. But there's no denying his greatness. He dominated the other great players of his era with a level of skill and athleticism combined with a obsessive desire to prove he was better than anyone else. Other NBA players claim that they were afraid to make eye contact with MJ. Now I've played a lot of basketball and ran up against some guys that were head and shoulders better than me, but I was never afraid to look them in they eye. How intimidating is that! ? !

Michael Jordan's the GOAT, hands down. I still remember as a kid, merely 6 years old, rocking my #23 jersey all day, every day, trying my best to be like Mike on my little cheapo bedroom door basketball hoop. Fun twist, I lived in Portland, OR at the time. Suffice it to say my MJ fanboi status didn't exactly go over well in the neighborhood or even in my family when the finals rolled around. Don't get me wrong, I loved Clyde "The Glide" Drexler as much as any Portlander but you don't root against the GOAT lol.

Jordan actually has a pretty high FG% for a volume shooter that isn't a big. For his career he shot .497% from the field. So he's actually one of the most efficient scorers ever considering that he took quite a few midrange shots. Players that typically shoot 50% take the bulk of their shots right at the basket.
@mpound97
@mpound97 Жыл бұрын
And remember all his averages dipped when he came back and played for Washington. Jordan was shooting well over 50% for his career and averaged 31.5ppg. The Wizards years dropped his shooting% to that .497 and his scoring average down to 30.1ppg.
@kaioken301
@kaioken301 Жыл бұрын
@@mpound97 Yeah but those Wizards years were underrated. It was impressive for a 39 and 40 year old player to still shoot just barely under 50% while shooting 1) The volume of shots he took 2) Not just layups and dunks but shooting mostly midrange shots and post fades Have you seen the Johnny Arnett video covering those two seasons? One little thing to mention is on the switch hand layup (vs Lakers) that was not a "show off" move. Just to know how strategic he is. Perkins, on the Lakers, went to university with Jordan & was known as a shot blocker. Jordan assumed Perkins would atempt the block, & switched hands.

One of the biggest advantages he had over everyone else, was his hands. He has massive hands. He could literally grip the ball with one hand and do whatever he wanted with it. His ball fake is legendary because of it. He is also, to this day, the only player in NBA history to win the Scoring Title and DPOY in the same season. In basketball what counts is to score many points with a good percentage (~ better or much better than the other team's average). Many points with low percentage are not helpful (we have some example of scoring champions after Jordan with a pretty low percentage) and also very few points with high percentage is not so useful (only for players with other duties than scoring or for the ones with very few minutes played). There are composite statistics that keep track also of rebounds, steals, assists, and turnovers like the PER Player Efficiency Rating. MJ has a career-best PER, despite the points inflation from the last years (the players in this year advance too easily in the all-time statistics because of this favorable context).

Incorrect. There are many players Jordan never beat in a playoff series. He never beat Kareem, for example. He never beat Olajuwon. And on the 63 point game. It's worth noting that the 86 Celtics were arguably the greatest team of all time boasting 5 future Hall of Famers. Also worth noting Bird's quote after the game: “I would never have called him the greatest player I’d ever seen if I didn’t mean it,” Bird told The Boston Globe. “It’s just God disguised as Michael Jordan.”

The Bulls lost the first 3 games of the 1991 season. Michael Jordan never had a 3-game losing streak in Chicago again, all from 1991 to 1998 and his second retirement. An incredible 626 games (including playoffs) without dropping 3 games in a row. Jordan and the Bulls lost on the Eastern Conference SemiFinals (not NBA Final) against Orlando (the year Jordan came back from the first retirement), but in that series they didn't lose 3 games in a row. And in the 6 NBA Finals, Jordan with the Bulls never went to a Game 7. For me that's an impressive high standard.
