Hi guys today we are taking a look at Australian ww2 production P1907 bayonets produced in Lithgow and Orange. I forgot to mention in the video that production moved from Lithgow to Orange in July 1942.
I will do another video on the development of the P1907 bayonet and all of the other manufacturers.

Interesting video! Worked at the Lithgow facility in 1990 - to around mid 94. During that time there were a lot of bayonets laying around mostly without the wooden handles. Many of them had the points ground off and were turned into makeshift paint scrapers and used in maintenance.

Great video! I have a nearly identical bayonet as you nickel platted one (except mine is not nickel platted). MA 9/41, 78670 serial with all the matching markings. The only difference is that I have a D and arrow on the side of the handguard as well. No markings on the grips. God bless!

I own a beautiful refurbished Aussie No. 1 Mk 3 .303 Enfield rifle that was imported into the USA after your government passed draconian gun laws in the 21st Century. I suspect it was used as a target competition rifle where it had to maintain it's military construction. It is sighted in perfectly @100 yds. I just shot it this week at my gun range. I also bought a new 1907 bayonet made by Windlass Steelcrafts on India that fits this rifle.

Lithgow Patt 07 Bayonet production did stop for a few years during the early 1930"s due to the depression, acoording to Ian Skennerton's book, Australian Service Bayonets.

I saw that too, funny in different books he gives different accounts. I'm unsure which is the most up to date. I know a collector who claims to have every year of manufacture though including all of the 30s... still yet to see them though

@@pointynotsharp8436 Mate, ask him if you can see the ones made in the early 1930's, I would like to know myself! As for the WWI Lithgow Patt 07's, my 1914 & 1915 Hooked Quillons don't have the flared out pommel, I will find out when they started this practice next time I call a mate of mine.

I ended up with one of these in America, it was just given to me so I don’t know it’s history, I thought it was British up until recently but I looked into some of the markings and it was made in lithgow

For Aussie P1907s I use: British and commonwealth bayonets by Skennerton and Richardson. I also use the website worldofbayonets.com pretty heavily. Most of the Skennerton books are decent for P1907s. I want a copy of the bayonet book but it's very expensive

@@stickoswalkabouts633 great place to start is to join a bunch of bayonet collecting groups on Facebook. A lot of the group experts are authors of bayonet books. Easier sometimes to ask the author than track down an out of print $500 book

Are these bayonets easy to acquire or are they harder to come by

They are quite common here in Australia, unfortunately they are getting a bit expensive

Unfortunately not, there aren't records for them being issued to specific units or people. They are really only useful for date of manufacture if your riccaso is worn

I just found a bayonet in my mother in laws shed. It’s the same as the one in the middle with OA stamp on it with the scarab and I guess the original belt hessian strap. She gave it to me. I’m stoked to find out some information on it.
