I remember seeing these......and laughing at how big and heavy they were (with a rat tail tang and slim handle) Ended up running around with a Glock knife and a OKC3S with the EGA wrapped over with tape😂 Would have made more sense ordering them after the Marines got them designed

It's lighter to just carry an m7 in its scabbard PLUS a wire cutter than carry just M9 in its scabbard.

What about scabbards? My original WW1 scabbard is looking like a crumpling brownie (Leather or whatever is on the British WW1 scabbard)

How do you use the metal clip on the top to attach this scabbard to a belt?
@pointynotsharp8436Күн бұрын
They fit to US M1910 belts, the belts have holes that the metal bits go through

I have a rusty M1 that's the AFH dated 1943. It tricked me bc it looked uncut yet dated which is extremely rare but I think it was cut, just very well done

Many South Korean soldiers call these bayonets teddy bears because of the shape of the pommel. Does Australia have such a nickname associated with bayonets?

This bayonet model, absolutely polished, is still in use in Spain by the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard) and Ejército del Aire (Air Force) in ceremonial parades. Thanks for the video.

Isn’t this by definition a ersatz bayonet.
@pointynotsharp84368 күн бұрын
My understanding is that an ersatz bayonet is supplementary to an officially adopted bayonet, usually due to production shortages. While this is the officially adopted bayonet. It just happens to be of a terrible quality. I was personally of the opinion it was an ersatz until I did the video, now I'm not so sure

Very interesting bayonet, a dagger that can be mounted on a rifle. I always thought that the AR-10 bayonets were the same of that from the M14 and M16 (M6, M7, M8, M9).

I've done a full video on the other type of AR10 bayonet. It's pretty much an M7 with a wood handle

The English did a horrible thing, the rifle is a disaster of failures, more than 80 modifications. And the hideous and non-functional bayonet.

These also come with shortened p1907 blades,the cross guards sometimes have a v short Quillon, more an extension, really.they always seem to be labelled as ersatz bayonets.

the German FAL was made for the west German border guard?
@GIJeaux111 күн бұрын
The reason that no bayonets were surplussed with rifles is that the West German G1 never had a bayonet. The Turks are a blade culture, so when they received the G1 rifles from West Germany, they fixed that shortfall. The Turk G1 bayonets were purpose made not modified from pre-existing bayonets. I own a G1 and a Turk bayonet. My bayonet was re-finished along with the rifle, and it is now Parkerized dark gray. The reason it has 2 muzzle rings is because the barrel has no conventional bayonet lug. The two rings hold the bayonet onto the flash hider and the latch fits over the grenade launching lug.
@jiriz0r11 күн бұрын
The blade was probably recycled from one of the many versions of the Turkish M1935 Mauser bayonet. I have one of those Mauser ones and the blade profile looks identical except mine has a deep fuller on its absurdly thick blade. Maybe the shiny polish is because they ground them flatter for the FAL?

was the scabbard and hilt blued intentionally or just left blackened from the forge?
