Beto was often referred to as "El Mero León del Corrido" (The Boss Lion of the Corrido) by his fans and admirers. With almost 30 years as a recording artist, Quintanilla is one of the unspoken heroes of Norteno music.
Today we look into the life and death of Beto Quintanilla, one of the greater legends of northern music in Mexico and the United States (primarily for his songwriting ability in composing narcocorridos). The details of Beto’s life are scarcely reported and took some effort to dig up. Although Beto was not the flashiest of the narcocorridos, he was undeniably authentic.

Just a thing to point out corridos are not made to idolize the violence but to show the respectability of a man's character or flaws and why they died just so people are aware because it teaches you how a MAN should fallow certain rules.

I grew up on Beto Quintanilla and had no idea about his childhood background, can’t wait to show this to my parents. Especially my mom, she was obsessed with his music. We went to his last concert in Houston and my mom has the autograph and picture with him from that day. Thank you for the great content!

Its common, some Mexicans looked down on narco corridos and didnt want them played at their parties because they didnt want people thinking they get their money from drugs .. lots of fams went from extremely poor in Mexico and then all of a sudden had abundance of money and lived in the states and other families were jealous of them.

He performed at one of our family events in the 80s when he was rising, the Cisneros were heavy drug dealers in the 80s and our family was close to his since we we grew up in the same town as him. Its still crazy he came to perform at our neighborhood in Florida

Supposedly Beto was forced to snort lots coke by sicarios to make it seem like a regular overdose case, but I have a friend who claims to be his ex-compadre, he said that Beto liked to carry large amounts of coke and close down bars for personal parties, he would whip out a candle and a vascula so he can heat up the cocaine to produce a way better sniffing experience. He would snort lines of coke the size of a juul and he would have coke binges where he didn’t sleep for days

My grandpa knew beto quintanilla, from what my family told me they were close my grandpa and beto they sold drugs and would dodge people trying to kill them. Many people love his music and other dont which i cant see why, but he got some very fire corridos in my opinion, beto is one of the best musicians i heard in all genres combined

I was lucky to see one of his concerts in a San Antonio club shortly before he died. He looked much older than what he was but the guy could dance lol! He was very popular in south Texas during my youth and even though I did not listen to his music back then by choice, I instantly enjoyed his corridos.

Beto Quintanilla was in town the day before he died. The concert was free. I wanted to go so bad he was my living idol. I didnt go because I didnt like going to clubs. He is the only artist I have cried for when I found out he died.😭

The stories I have with pepe y la familia ontiveros y salazar. My dad was a great friend of Chuy his brother. We would contract them alot back in the early 2000s. We stay in east los angeles. One time a big timer in los angeles was visitting his mom in my hood and he heard the music anf came into the party. He gave all the kids 100 bux. Lined them up. Then got 3 more hours.. Grupo started at 8pm and finished at 9 am..
