3 жыл бұрынWe visited a sensory gym called We Rock The Spectrum. A gym where everyone is welcome and really catered to kids with autism. Braylee was playing while hand flapping and another kid joined in. This created a conversation with the girl's mom. I hope for a day Braylee's stims will be a normal thing. #autism #weefam

I was a little nervous because I didn’t know if she would bail out partway down but she did great after the first few with help.

She was really good on that zip line. I love how she likes to try things, even when she's a little scared of it. At least she tries. Not that many kids would do that.

It wasn’t too bad, initially there were maybe 4 other kids and they weren’t cramped or anything. We were there 2 hours and the second hour was just us there which was nice 🙂

LOL...Mmmm Chocolate! Love Stacy's laugh. It was funny...😅🤣😅 Great vlog, guys. Braylee had, so, much fun. It was, such, a joy to watch B trying different things by herself. Haha thanks! It was a nice day out for us all. She did really catch on to stuff and warm up well. She went about halfway. They have a climbing wall at the center she goes to as well 🙂

The Autism Sensory gym is something I really wish they had in the 90's. 🤦♀️ We just had regular playgrounds. The only time I saw something even close to that was in gym class in school & when I was 21 & busted up my ankle on black ice. Had to go to physical therapy for the ankle for a while back then. Glad Braylee had fun~ 👍

It’s nice for an indoor option too in bad weather or winter time. Yeah it’s similar to OT/PT clinic stuff kind of.

That place is so amazing!!! Seeign B plays was so nice and lovely, she was so happy and that made me super happy!! It's so nice that places like this exist, I would have loved to go to a place like this when I was little and at that time I didn't had any sensory needs, it just looks like a nice and fun place, also the ball that let you slide to the mattress, I used to play with a similar game in a park and it was my favourite thing as a kid so it made me smile when I saw B playing with it multiple times and I'm so proud of her for asking for help and also doing it herself once she was confident enough!

I noticed the ear muffs, which I would wear in such an environment, which amplifies sounds due to room acoustics.

Young kids don’t see disability,color,status unfortunately grown ups do!🙁

I would disagree. Children see a lot, and are willing to put it in perspective in the moment. Adults see the true damage done and what will be required of the parents and their resources to get the child to adulthood. From there they will worry about what will happen to their child when they die. Adult responses encompass the whole picture.

Children notice a lot; almost more than adults do, I would say. Children do look to their parents on how to react. Adults have a filter that sometimes is a bad thing. An example of this is that I teach young kids and am a type 1 diabetic with an insulin pump. I get kids asking me almost every day what my pump is. I’ve only had two adults ask (who didn’t know me). Another example is when I was a kid, I had a friend with autism. I realized he was different but once my mom explained that he has autism and that means his brain might work a little differently but I should still treat him the same, I was still a little uncomfortable but I learned how to include him and his needs

Not all kids, my parents were equally nice to all people no matter what color they were or whether they had a disability or not, and they taught me to be nice to them too. Yet for some reason I was afraid of people with dark skin (adults anyway, I don't know about children), and people with disabilities made me nervous. Now, I feel the opposite of how I did when I was young, but some special needs people still make me nervous because some are really loud. But that's my experience, all kids are different.

I also flap my hands, mostly when I'm super excited and I went to a haunted house tonight and couldn't flap my hands because it was too cold. She's adorable. I got myself stuck in a baby swing once, my autistic 9 year old also does that type of thing. So cute and funny.

Braylee really loved that zip line and that gym looked so cool, makes me wish I was kid again😅 if I ever have children , I would definitely love to take them to a place like this, looks so fun and so much sensory things too. Braylee just keeps growing and getting even better with speech and understanding. She's always so cute, and love seeing her smile and watching her progress 🥰 much love from Canada and stay safe wonderful fam😇

Yes it was awesome! They have all the best things for kids to have fun. She was definitely well regulated for the rest of the day after we left. She has been progressing really well this year!

I guess you're building a zip line in the garden now, huh Wees?! ;-) she seemed to love that. So with the trolley size thing (sorry, trolley is British for shopping cart)...what you're saying is Braylee channels her inner cat...as in "if I fits, I sits"...even if she will only be able to get one leg in, and probably get stuck doing it ;-) wait...am I the only one who keeps chocolates in her mask to chomp on when I'm on the go...that's what those little pleats are for right?! ;-)

Hahah you know us... if there’s room at the next place 😉 I totally told David that same line. She’s basically a cat “if I fits, I sits” The long legs really get her stuck trying to fit into the small swings and such lately. They’re her favorite too. 🤣🤣

That's the coolest gym I've ever seen, lots of things that swing and we know B loves a good swing! It's good the lady asked you about Braylee's hand flapping stim because now she will understand when she sees someone else do it. Lovely that the little girl wanted to play with Braylee too. Those bloopers at the end were hilarious, you should do more of them! 😂

My 13 old daughter does the hand flapping ,especially when she excited about something. I am going to get my daughter reevaluated for ADHD . Braylee looks like she had lots of fun at the gym.

We bring them everywhere, especially new places since we never know what it will be like or if she will need them 🙂. If I’m thinking of the right thing, it’s crayola model magic

Watching Braylee on that zip line made me so happy. I have anxiety with new things and love to see her overcome hers. I sit here and think "Go Braylee" because she is only 7 and just goes for it! I have a question: It looked like just before the first time she got situated on the zip line she signed something to Stacey before she got on. With 2 fingers against her other 2 fingers. I used to know some sign and forget what that is. Was that my imagination or did she actually sign something to you Stacey? Loved this video!

She was amazing and it went so much better than we could’ve imagined. She is so brave and overcomes way more of her anxieties than I do. She was signing “sit” because I was signing it to her and she was copying. It’s one of the few that we consistently use with her and that she will sometimes use on her own 🙂

We do fix the straps before driving. We have ordered something so she will not be able to unbuckle the chest clip to twist the straps.
