Great design innovation! Of course, there is an "and". : ) instead of, or even in addition to, the double lead threads, this seemed like a tool that would benefit from slotted threads, which are also called rapid threads. I typically see these on woodworking vises. The end result is that the top slides down and is secured with less than a single turn. I would think that three slots, top and bottom would provide an even clamping pressure for this application. I did a quick look for manufacturing methods, but did not have any luck. Love your videos and advice. I am still new to this and hope to advance to needing your tools soon.

Jason! I've watched most of your videos, and I like that you put so much thought into making the process easier and smoother. I have not made a coin ring yet, however my daughter graduates College in December (Michigan State University) and I would like to make a 'class ring' for her. Can you recommend a coin that would have ”2015” visible after the ring is completed. I have 2015 American Silver Eagles, but I am estimating the ring would be very thick by the time it is finished to her size (not sure of size yet). I would like to make the ring myself and am planning on buying your set of tools. I'm hoping you can send some ideas regarding which coin to start with. And, any other practical advice you care to share. Look forward to hearing from you!

I think this is a good punch setup for newbies for a couple of reasons. 1) it's an all-in-one unit 2) eliminates the need for spacers. 3) probably relatively cheap in cost. I really like and encourage innovation you guys have done for the hobby. the only problem I see, is a pass-through the die design ,like you did with the 3/4 size punch. I can completely punch three different size coins at the same time it takes you to do one coin. if you could somehow incorporate a pass through design, I too would be in line to buy your punch. God bless and keep those Innovations coming.

very nice tool~ you say you're trying to keep cost down but you placed a useless plastic washer inside the assembly as a buffer to keep the inside from rubbing but there's actually no chance of that happening because its securely tightened and the surfaces will not move.... kinda useless and adds to the cost imo.

3/8 or 7/16 on a quarter? Why not just use a 1/2 inch. With that said look at all these pieces, at this point seems it be easier just to have spacers. Because with spacers you could still punch any size size and you don't need these inserts. I don't know I think if it wasn't for the inserts it be something amazing, but for me it defeats the purpose.
@JasonsWorks
@JasonsWorks Жыл бұрын
You can use 1/2" if you like, personal preference :) It's nice to choose the band width that works for you. The problem with the spacers is you need a spacer for every coin ever made in the world and if it is worn more than others, it wont be as accurate. Also, if the coin is not perfectly round, the auto punch will average the center automatically.

@@JasonsWorks No you're right I've been doing more research on coins ring making and tools. I'm new to this but since then I've learned quite a bit more. Don't ever let nobody tell you this profession doesn't take much knowledge lol. Like now I get why this punch Is far superior, like being able to change punch sizes just by using an insert, and not having to worry about coin sizes or centering is a thing of beauty. I'm man enough to admit when I'm wrong. Unfortunately it is a little out of my price range hopefully someday I'd be able to get one.

Welcome to the real world pal. Jason and "friends" probably put a couple of hundred hours brainstorming and designing this punch. I would guess initial run was about 20 units. Go get a price on a limited run of a custom machined part add in packaging and /or Etsy, eBay, Credit card fees and see what it cost. (Don't forget to factor in fee to compensate you for when your wife ( no matter how wonderful wife she may be.) gripes about the fact you have the 15 unsold units sitting on the top shelf and you teenager needs braces.
