Superb video, thank you for giving us a foundation which most can build from, I've been wanting to make coun rings for years and this was perfect. I know other tutorial videos out there can intimidate viewers due to how much equipment is required to already have on hand, yet this is encouraging to know there are ways to be creative without breaking the bank.

Seems to me, that starting with a smaller hole, would give you a smaller ring size. It also seems to me that one could get an idea of the general final ring size, by the size of the drill bit. Then, you wouldn't have to drop $100+ on resizing equipment. (And, if you can afford the resizing stuff... you can probably afford a torch). Also... a ring mandrel thingy... that's not a typical yardsale find. Small criticisms aside, this was an informative video, with useful information. So, thank you. Your efforts are appreciated.

Quick tip for you on drilling a center hole that is actually centered: after you punch the center of the coin, drill a through-hole using a 1/8” drill bit then a 1/4” drill bit then your final drill bit. By stepping the sizes up, the hole will stay centered. I personally use the short, double ended 1/8” drill bits (available at Harbor Freight) to prevent any flexing of the thin shaft of traditional-length 1/8” drill bits.

$1 mandrels are everywhere, lol. I've used different drifts, spuds, bull prix, etc. They usually ding scuff and scrape extra character into my poorly unsized rings, they'd be impossible to sell and not because they're priceless like you may think. Thanks and Good work!

Center is easy to find with a straightedge and a thin Sharpie, and easy to mark for drilling by using a prick punch. Prick punch, use ~ 1/8" bit (cobalt alloy lasts longer, I buy five-packs online for pilot holes) for starter hole since the center of a bit cuts by crushing then finish with your desired drill bit.
