I can give numerous such example .. but here 1 for example What is the best place to hold steering for safety .. it’s 3 and 9 position(please research) how many of us do? Almost none .. plaid steering forces us to do that .. along with other benefit but with a little nuisance parking speed steering maneuver 1 more what is better 100s of buttons with no capability of upgrade in future or a screen which is infinitely customizable?

The Model S and Model X have a separate menu under Controls specifically for suspension settings. The 'Suspension' section allows you to view detailed metrics about your suspension, such as ride height, compression, rebound, and body acceleration. You can even view it all in real-time while driving the car. Furthermore, you can tweak the vehicle's ride height from four pre-defined levels. You can adjust the vehicle's ride height from as low as 6.1 inches, all the way up to 8.9 inches. You can also individually adjust the ride comfort and the handling of the vehicle. Similar to Tesla's location-based auto-folding mirrors, you can also have your vehicle remember the ride height at a given location. The vehicle will then automatically raise or lower its suspension to your predefined height when you're arriving at that location.

Neat trick we use in R&D and design - when steering at low speeds (eg. parking), use your index finger in the cavity corners underneath steering controls (2 large trapz cavities), and rotate single-hand. At parking lot speeds, one-hand yoke operation is effortless. And you get used to it after 2-3 car parking attempts.

Great, a work around for an issue that should have never been an issue. Can’t wait until a nice greedy lawyer gets a hold of a case where the yoke may have played an issue, even if it didn’t.

I drove this in the US in summer. I got used to the yoke actually, but not to the buttons that are supposed to be used for blinkers. It’s more of a toy than anything else. Conclusion: my 462 hp Cayenne plug-in feels extremely slow 🙁

@@hardywoodaway9912 that one was annoying as well, 100%, but the position of blinkers for me was a deal breaker, I always had to take a look at the wheel, I mean yoke to see where they are. I had the car for 5 days btw. Plus those doors, they are just annoying and slow, many times they don’t open all the way.

At least your cayenne won’t grind up its own half shafts. Dumped my new MX because it chewed the half shafts after 5000km. Started producing this metal on metal noise. Looked up the forums, turns out this problem exists from 2015-ish. Don’t buy it

Yes I have owned the Plaid for 8 months. The yoke took some time to get used to, but now I wouldn't change it. Only when I drive the Wife's Y does the adjustment happen. I'm team chrome delete. Feels like I'm driving a super car. 👌🏿

You can adjust the feel and sensitivity of the steering system to suit your personal preference. On the touchscreen, touch Controls > Pedals & Steering > Steering Mode. Choose a steering option: Comfort, Standard, Sport.

if you can't afford it don't waste your money. cars are huge wealth killers for the middle class. better of buying a car just below your income range going a little cheaper and instead putting away annual retirement money. you'll be way better off in the long run.

@@TriviaChallenge but the lotus seems to have a much better and a more luxurious interior, with better material quality. The R version seems to be as fast as this plaid. And the exterior design is much more interesting than this model x. It also has two trunks and is spacious inside. Maybe the advantages of the model x is the possibility to have 7 seats (for those who need it), and the superchargers network (for those who make long trajectories).

It used to be black trim instead of chrome meant that was a cheaper model, now the opposite is true. I'm "old school" and prefer chrome or polished stainless steel.

Concern for me is the indicator buttons, especially changing when going around roundabouts. It is just trying to find them when maneuvering at low speed on the road. I personal indicate when going a rounadabout and the to exit change to the indicator to reflect this. I feel I would not be in full control.

I know there are aftermarket suppliers that provide a fully Tesla compliant full steering wheel for the new model S and X but not sure if there are European suppliers. The yoke will not suite everyone.

For example at 25:20, how do you turn on the indicator when you already pulled over the steering yoke to pull out of the parking space? You would have to go looking for upside down buttons on the other side of the steering yoke as where you're used to finding them... This is completely ridiculous.

If you really need to turn it fast back and forth when parallel parking for example maybe put your hand in the hole in the yoke steering wheel.

providing any feedback on yolk steering wheel doesn't make sense unless you have used it consistently for a few weeks or even a few months. We've been using round steering wheels forever and there will be an "uncomfortable" transition period to adjust to a different shape. After enough usage only then a valid feedback make sense.

It only took me a couple of days to get used to the yoke. Now I prefer it over the regular steering wheel. When you are driving it sort of disappears and you have a much better view of the dashboard and road.

I have not had that occur. They set the default ride height to a lower setting and that often got rid of the shudder on the older cars.

@@JBoy340a So can you align the back axle to cater for this in the new model? Because on the old one you cannot. You'd have to buy separate parts to mount that allow you to do that..

So, if the car-doors open too close to another car, the doors WILL actually slam into the other car? No actual reliable sensors to stop the doors from making contact? Thanks for the video, enjoyed it :-)

Driving our 2022 Tesla Model X Plaid (20" wheels) is a normal/conventional experience with suspension set on comfort and acceleration set on chill. I'm a senior citizen who, while I enjoy the Plaid's extreme acceleration capability, rarely make use of it for two main reasons: 1) traffic violation/traffic crash potential and 2) the adrenaline rush makes me feel weak and shaky BEFORE flooring the accelerator (Pavlov's response?). I would prefer that the initial 10% of accelerator travel would produce an identical response to that of Chill mode regardless of acceleration mode setting, but only if the selected acceleration mode was very prominently displayed.

All Tesla with the electronic door release also have a manual door release lever on the door.

The 12v battery opens the doors, not the main drive battery

There are so many roundabouts here in Netherlands that I think maybe the yoke could be a daily annoyance. Apart from the yoke and missing carplay(I prefer my favorite navigation etc. apps), this is almost a dream car..

The steering yoke is a joke, and is killing the car. It's almost annoying in parking, unsafe when you need counter steer. Also, the "all screen control" is not good, since you are not able to use double tap hazards as "thank you" when other driver gives you a space. So for me, done deal gone.

yoke steering should only turn about 90 degrees in either direction for full lock-to-lock so you don't move your hands on it; worked fine in a go-kart i used to have, but probably most people would think that's too sensitive and "dangerous" for a car just because they don't want to take a minute to get accustomed. I think what's actually dangerous is trying to hand-over-hand a yoke in a potential crash situation

In extreme situation I would prefer normal steering wheel, I assume the main idea for this yoke is to make it foldable in the future, with normal wheel it almost impossible.

Yes we know the plaid can raise its’ air suspension up to 8.1-8.9 inches of ground clearance which is middle of the road for AWD crossovers in terms of ground clearance. 1006 HP, 0-60 in around 2.3 seconds, top speed around 180+mph But the real question is how small of a wheel diameter can be fitted to the lug pattern+brake setup on this vehicle? Because what I want to know is how versatile these really are: I am aware of how good they are on paved roads but lets say I want to sneak up on grizzly bears in alaska and need serious mud tires to get to the bears effectively without sliding off of a cliff. The question is how big of a sidewall can one be equipped with? Just think of how effective 1006 instantaneous horsepower and even more instant torque would be with a traditional all terrain tread, beefy sidewall and 8+ inches of ground clearance would be all working in tandem with regenerative braking and 1 pedal driving. You’d be able to creep around the forest without wasting much energy and making no noise.

My Plaid X has noise "generating", not reducing. It generates a roar to deaden road sounds. It does not work.

@@cokyrobes damn a year and half late to the party for the updated models but that happens to us too, European manufacturers like Mercedes will announce a new vehicle and it will be on sale throughout Europe for a whole year before we get any. I think it’s pretty common just cause a manufacturer is gonna sell to their “homeland” before anywhere else Tesla is an American company so it only makes sense we get top priority

"countries which produce electricity with coal" use the same electricity to *refine oil* which makes fossil fuels twice as bad. You can't compare EV electricity "at point of generation" to fossil fuel "in the tank" Try starting with "oil in the ground" and see how that compares (not well)

I have a solution to the problem of turning the yoke. The devs needs to add a expo to the curve. So that towards the end of range for movement the value increases cumulatively. Like on an rc drone where its some preferr expo on the axis of motion. This gives you a two set curve for motion. When turning the yoke slowly and gently the accelerometers can sense this and provide an alternative curve to give smooth turning matched to the wheelspeed. And with more forceful motion the turning factor increases. This way tesla can use their current hw and make this an ota. Its so basic and easy that im sure they will have thought of this already yes?

Insurance companies must test that e-vehicles can open the doors after the crash and if e-vehicles catch fire after the crash, too.

No problem opening the doors. There is a manual release lever in addition to the electronic release. One downside is the windows will not drop so flex and could crack if you use the manual release a lot. But if you need to get out of the car after a major accident, that is probably not a big concern.
