In this video, we’re going to be building an automated IoT indoor hydroponic farm using the Quantum Integration system.

Their system is a wireless electronics platform that enables you to build IoT devices and apps quickly and easily thanks to an easy-to-use set of hardware and a drag and drop programming interface. Short bursts like that will likely not cause too much harm, but generally, water pumps should never be ran dry. The water itself is crucial to prevent undue wear on those the way they're designed. It doesn't take much time at all running them dry to brick them.

love a bit of automation specially in hydroponics. only issue i seen was see through containers pretty sure that was just for us to see tho.

So what's the big advantage of this over NodeRED?

NodeRED is just a software package, this is an all-in-one software and hardware platform.

If you can put your nutrient tank lower then you grow beds you could use a bell siphon to automatically empty the water from the grow beds. Below is a link to a video explaining how it works.
