On the IC Module for EcoTec 2.2 engine there is a small adapter, which is connected to one of 2 female terminal connectors in car harness. Does it matter, which side goes inside of the connector? That adapter has pretty similar ends, but a little bit different. Maybe it is just a design and not important with which end you connect. And also is there a need to apply any heat transfer grease on that metallic plate (you mentioned it gets very hot), but usually none does it. Thank you for the informative film.

Usually the module that I use is from the dealer I never really have any problems for a modifications the connectors always adapt to the old one you have to make sure the connectors are correct plus and ground as signal wires that definitely makes a difference usually there is a slight variation if you get it from aftermarket but you have to match up the old connector with the new one wiring very important

I'm working on a chevy with the same exact diagram you have here. I am not getting anything coming out of the PCM on the IC Timing circuit. I've checked cam and crank sensors....its all working correctly. So I replaced and programmed a new PCM. Still....no signal coming out of PCM on IC Timing Control. What am I missing? Please help 🙏

Hello sir Im in proces restoring me wire harnest please some help. Its Opel Ascona C 1.3l engine E core ignition coil with induction pick up and 4 pin gm ignition module. I hade some problems with static engine wont shut off or self acelerates . So I see there is mentioned positive linear voltage regulator inside the dashboard and I do not know if the ignition coil gets its power from that device or not. So I was curiuse to know can I use relay insted I have bunch 6pin 4pin 3pin relays but I dont know if it shuld be NO OR NC relay? So Im not shure if it wuld work or not its tipical GM design car . I found out tge dashboard is bypassed alternator light wia check engine light ,posibly 1 or more relays interacting with ich other,I have crapy bulb rear holder with dual filament bulbs and xenon light bulbs front. I was not shure what caused those strange effects I did found corosion for blinker relay ground and 1 black wire got fried on ignition key repaired it but problem returned again after some periode of time . So please help me if I make seperate circuets where do I put diodes or zener diodes in what location for ich pin lay out to avoid relay interactions . Also what value shuld I use for me Delco 12si alternator diode or resistor or bulb value and if it is posibel to change the starting charge on those alternators I can run me engine as low as 300-500rpm so I wuld like to know opinions for manuali regulate those alternators or if there is external regulators that are programabel for alternators some peopel mentioned closed loop regulators so hoppe you can tell me more what wuld be best to do.

Very informative, ty. I wanted to ask a question though. I thought it was when the ignition module closes the switch and grounds the circuit the magnetic field collapse. While its open it builds a charge. I'm not trying to be rude or act like i know everything. I wanted to ask so I can understand and know if I'm wrong or not. Thanks again.

Hello, i have a Golf 2 GTI 16V and when i start the engine doesnt goes a signal to the fuel pump, when you put in the contact the fuel pump should do a noise bzz for 2/3 seconds but at my case doesnt do nothing. Is the problem at ECU or at the Ignition Control Unit?!

your making this too long and more complicated ,,,,,,just say when the coil looses its ground ,,,,ohms law which says electricity takes the shortest way etc etc etc ,,,,,,so the secondary of the coil fires ,,,,,,

Does the ignition timing signal receive 12 volts at all times or does it get a pulse signal when the key is turned?
@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto
@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto 3 жыл бұрын
The key has to be in the start and run position the computer decides when to give a pulse in that condition based on the sensors inputs from the to the computer thank you for your question

The equipment needed to replace chips are quite costly surface mount technology need special equipment and also usually board level is preferred today since it takes a longer time to do component level on a module you can see my channel Joe electronics schematics for auto where I talk about these type of ignition control modules

Can anyone please help me out with something ? I have a 1994 ford f150 5.0 lx truck and I start it up I drive it about a block and then it dies and it starts right back up but does the same thing over again.it always starts right back up .I need help please if anyone knows why it does this .I would appreciate it

It could be a couple of things it could be on misfire and you can detect that by looking at the engine when it vibrates sometimes spark plugs are the problems with these Fords or the wiring themselves or could be a sensor problem but going back to 1994 there weren't so many sensors as they were today that's why the best course of action is to put a scanner and to see how everything is reacting Catherine but obviously you have to be familiar with that good luck keep me informed

@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto
@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto 4 жыл бұрын
Michael Jobe electronic modules can go out for component failures for heat problems and for vibration problems which cause chips and pins to disconnect if it's a heat problem you can put something called a freeze spray if the symptom goes away that means it's heat-related

@@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto You spent five minutes vaguely describing how individual windings in a coil work. Simply put you should’ve just stated that a coil will make a 50,000 V spark when you disconnected that’s all people need to know you spent so long getting there you’re going to lose everybody hope this helps
@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto
@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto 2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffkellner1585 thank you for your response the ignition coil differs as to the pulse it depends on the electronic fuel system not all fuel injection systems are the same it depends on the computer when it turns on the ignition coil that spark can be way less than 50,000 volts who's going to go and measure a pulse that's 50,000 volts anyway even if I tell them that all they got to do is go to check for pulse and that's it so how will they know that it's 50,000 volts tell me according to your logic
@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto
@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto 2 жыл бұрын
@@jeffkellner1585 there's two instruments that you can measure the spark when is the probe I want other one is a scanner or a fluke multimeter what person watching is going to go and have one of these equipment number one number two on the GM like this the condition coil is triggered by the pulse of the computer to turn it off so there is a magnetic field which induces the spike how many people get to think that it's a computer problem not too many right everybody's going to concentrate on the ignition coil right so trying to figure out how your theory of just saying it's a 50,000 volt Spike to the viewers can be related

@@Joeelectronicschematicsforauto You are completely missing the point I will only say this one more time your explanation is way overstated all you need to tell the people when it comes to the spark is that when the coil ground is removed the spark will occur have a great day leave me alone
