Great vid. I never gelled with mine but so be it. Maybe I should have taken it to the track these guys were on. So many owners move them on after a few hundred miles. It's a very polarising car, once you've actually got one.

Amazing to see Alex. Love him. But here's a thought. You can build a really cool buggy for about 10k and have some fun. Swap tires, adjust ride height/stiffness for different surfaces. I wanted one back in the day along with the atom.

I think these 2 folks must get called in for Top Gear hosts, with Matt from carwow and maybe even Jason from Hagerty. Would probably shoot that series back to the golden era of those 3 knobs. But then again, I'd hate to see any changes to the existing respective channels they represent...

It’s absolutely relevant. Because it’s something purely for fun, something entirely different and something 100% ICE with no driver aids, in a world of amorphous blobs. I live in the French Alps and from Apr to Oct the weather is generally dry. I’d drive one of these as my daily around my local twisties. Personally I can think of only one negative and that’s that there is no 4WD option. RWD shows it’s Ariel DNA and road bias, and will limit the car to fast, hard trail-type ‘off roading’. But with 4WD it could give the user so many more options. Nevertheless an amazing vehicle. Well done Ariel. 🙌

Still obsessed with the Nomad. But would also want one that's whisper silent, to explore rural tracks and villages without scaring any villagers or animals I didn't mean to scare. So that's a Rolls Royce engine swap, or something electric. Could a project result in a ~400 hp ultralight rally car and at the same time a fun exploring vehicle using "Chill Mode"? What would be the way to go, a 30 kW rally car kit, or well chosen 4 motors, one per wheel, that offers the right power and torque between 0 and 2000 rpm or so? 2500 rpm direct drive is going to be scary methinks. Two Plaid modules would make for 40 kWh and 400 hp. I bet those are 400V thus 800V motors are an option. A light way to get that capacity and power. And dare I say, cheap. I'm a big guy so I could live with an upscaled Nomad cage chassis to make room for the mods, +10% or +20%. Not 20% in the width, though probably. Wheels, whatever the lightest grippiest gravel WRC like wheels/tyres are? In a light build with EV drive, brakes would not get pushed too much so could be relatively modest.
