3 hours. 5 hours. 10 hours. I don’t care I’d sit down and watch Avatar in full just to get the full story.

The deleted scenes showed that there is a 4 hour Avatar masterpiece, the greatest Sci-Fi epic ever. Shame they couldn't finish the scenes.

This scene truly shows the horror of an actual war being instigated by one another, The RDA plows their sacred trees intentionally to start a conflict, the Na'vi attacks in revenge by destroying the equipment and human lives in return, but this gave RDA the free hand to attack without any consensus against the Hometree and later Eywa as seen. What's more interesting is that if Jake Sully hadn't arrived on Pandora in the first place, the RDA would have likely wiped out the Na'vi and Eywa later on as war between RDA and Na'vi was inevitable.

Agree. These deleted scenes fills a lot of gaps in the final cut's plot line.

For anyone confused, these scenes were removed not because they ran out of time. But because they wanted to cut down the runtime. James Cameron said that cut out 35-40 minutes of mostly complete footage.

2:05 In this original uncut dialogue Quaritch is very manipulative, he takes advantage of Parker's torn morality and plays into his corporate desire and convinces him to overcome his conscience and approve the war on Na'vi. He is so intelligent and ruthless, traits of a great villain.

Jeeez this movie would have been that much different if all these deleted scenes were in the final cut.

The conversation between Quaritch and the business guy is so much better in this version

Jake is so much more expressive in this. He looks like a guy who is DISGUSTED rather then a life long soldier who suddenly finds out about colonialism.

Some of this deleted scenes added a little bit more of grey area to the human/Navi conflict. But most of the audience simply want clear good and bad guys and Cameron knows this...

I just watched the Extended Collectors edition last night. This part was in it, so it wasn't completely deleted. The scenes where they destroy the bulldozers, the aftermath on the screen and Grace talking about how their program was for nothing were kept in. Everything else was cut.

Parker is a much interesting character in the deleted scenes. Wish they included his scenes, it would have added a lot of depth to him.

I swear these deleted scenes make the movie sooo much better than it already it is. Does anyone think that Jake should’ve been more emotional at this point? Like on the brink of tears, if not in tears? Like his wife is out there at home tree and there’s a chance should could die. The family he’s become part of are having their home destroyed in part because of him and many of them could die. I feel like these deleted scenes show more conflict in Jake that should’ve been shown in the main version. But even then, I feel like Jake would be even more troubled at this point.

"Thank you all, here's your last paycheck, your services are no longer required." Also, how did they not give the Marines more screen time? Aliens was such an epic film because of the Colonial Marines.

Of course they had to delete this scene. It made the na’vi realistic instead of the morally perfect cartoons they are in the real film.

Grace was right. The RDA bulldozed the Na’vi’s sacred sight on purpose. They grew tired of waiting, and they needed an excuse to get them out by force. Once the Na’vi attacked their men, the RDA knew it had the incident necessary to attack and get them out.

Oh man… this would have turned the movie from this cute one-sided story, to a proper sci-fi. I actually wish it was like this instead, but of course it might have actually been not so kid friendly then. More morally confusing

We make movies about aliens invading earth and destroying everything we have, but I think the scenario here is more likely. We will be those aliens who go into other peoples homes and take things away. It’s what we’ve been doing in all our time

This makes so much more sense. Ive seen this movie when it first came out n now over the weekend. I need all these deleted scenes. Everything makes more sense. The final cut felt choppy.

The cuts fill in ALL the gaps so well, it’s actually a mysterious James didn’t keep the 30 minutes and just finish it for blue-ray or something. I’m glad they’re out here but no amount of clips can put it in the middle of the movie experience looking professional where I need it sadly.

When we look at these deleted scenes . one has to remember they are doing a lot of hand holding,, to much hand holding is like getting out the story hammer and using it to tell people how to "see" , the films story manages to convey the core issues and flows better on the point internally without resorting to the hammer , because Avatar is a mirror story on many levels the more we internally connect across the bridge "ourselves" the more emotional the recognition is.

Cutting the scene with the Na'vi destroying the equipment was a critical error: I couldn't rationalize what the security contingent was doing. That whole sequence should've been left in.

Here after this was in avatar 2. Part of this scene was used on one of the screens after the train full of weapons was raided, but it was mirrored, and you couldn't see Wainfleet's face

If Zack Snyder can get a 4 hour cut for his movie despite Warner Bros not wanting to do anything with his vision at that point, then James Cameron should definitely make his 4 hour cut of Avatar.

I remember going back to the film and watching it again(it’s a guilty pleasure of mine) and I realized that the Na’vi had nothing to do with unobtainium. In fact they’re most concerned with their own lives than those rocks. That kinda makes the violence between these sides kinda pointless if thee native species of the planet with the same rocks didn’t need said rocks. And the fact that the RDA just wants the materials and not their planet makes it even more so. If the Avatar program just asked that they wanted the materials, they Na’vi would’ve backed off. And even if the RDA DID want their planet, they’d probably decide against it considering the gravity level and hostile wildlife. Not the mention the flux out there. Of course, since finding unobtainium would’ve required lots of land destruction, and the fact that Hometree had the richest unobtainium deposit in the RDA’s radius, the violence was kinda inevitable. You know, going back to that Hometree thing. If they destroyed Hometree, why didn’t they arrive there to gather the materials. When Jake woke up at that area, there’s literally no one there but him. Wasn’t the point of destroying Hometree(as a last ditch effort by them after the failed diplomacy) was to gather the materials? The Na’vi moved out after the attack, so why haven’t they got there? I guess it’s because of Jake’s body being there.

I can see how cutting the scene from 1:00 to 1:45 wouldn't massively take away from the story so long as the scenes either side of it are included. Na'avi attack dozers > Quaritch pitches his response to Selfridge.

There are some of these scenes I understand why they cut out but I wish they'd left the ones where Parker is hesitant to let Quaritch wage war. Like this one and the one where he threatens to fire him. He's still not a good guy, but I just wish they'd shown more that he doesn't feel this is right.

I think Jim Cameron either wanted to reuse the footage or they got lazy, or maybe it was a reference, but I caught it! Nice try Jim, but I saw it

The RDA could have been a little more paranoid. I would have kept a self destruct system on all the avatar equipment just in case

among all the cut this is the real shame that this was not into the final movie. This improves by a hundred the loioc of the Humans Behaviour. They seek for revange and not just bulying the aliens for no reason.

I recently noticed while watching the extended cut that when Grace and Jake are talking right before Trudy comes to warn them, everybody is packing up. It makes no sense why without the lines about shutting down the Avatar Program. That should've stayed, it was already the extended cut.

If I was to pick only one of the deleted scenes to add back into Avatar, it would be this one. And the "palace coup" one second. They add more depth to the NDA strategies/politics. Of course, others will disagree on this.

These added scenes provide such a glow-up to Parker's character, a difference as vast as Steppenwolf from Justice League theatrical 🤮 and Steppenwolf from Zack Snyder's Justice League (don't get me wrong, Parker in theatrical Avatar is already miles better than Joss Whedon's Steppenwolf). I'm also glad that Corporal Lyle Wainfleet got some dialogue!

Next time watching the movie, I will watch this clips in the right order.

Looks like there a multiple deleted scenes for different directions the show could of gone. There is one where Parker tries stopping the military from attacking the indigenous. But gets shot down and threatened.

I don't understand why they got rid of these scenes, they only took out of the story. These scenes are finished and completely fine, why didn't they want this to be part of the story? This just explains a lot. Or they simply didn't want the audition to sympathize with humans at all?

Ironically, a small country in the Middle East was sitting on an enormous sea of oil, and the USA chose to make friends of them in return for that oil. You might know them as Saudi Arabia. There are no good choices, not in the end.
