Was curious to see these newer 1s HD boards. One of the tings I'm keeping eyes on are these whoop vtx HD boards. Interesting about the color change in the basement. Looking forward to your opinion of the HD Zero goggles for sure. Thanks for the video, happy holidays!

Hiya Nick. Just froze a couple of your old and new, side to side comparisons, I and I can't help noticing that the image looks a little more blown out and a tad fuzzier on the new camera. You notice it on the lights in your house and the darker areas also, I don't know whether you noticed this or not. I wrote this when I noticed it, now I'm going to watch the rest of your review!! Nick, love it! hey since i do not have walksnail googles , i have the idea of do not buy walksnail googles but sit in front of a 32" tv in the back of my pickup, i just need to make a like a RX base station so to power the RX module and connect the HDMI cable to the TV, also 2 good patch antennas are a must and i want to mount the RX module on a e pole about 6 or 7 feet high so to have better RX. i can get 32" tvs at local best buy for 99 bux, the googles are 500+ .Merry XMAS!

I was using those crux canopies on my mob6 (and a Crux3 where I first saw them) for a long time before I got a new whoop. The old mob canopy only had 3 mount points and had jello without the little foam they add. The crux canopy is very solid but I broke many at the side arms right where they meet the camera screw indent. Luckily the plastic used responds very well to super glue and I was able to fix and reuse them many times also.

Man…this looks epic…kinda wish I had waited till this came out cause I bought 2 original lite boards and they are great but would love to save some more weight. Honestly Caddx avatar takes the win in my opinion. I was massively against them at first but after flying it myself it’s epic

@@NickBurnsFPV I don’t own the dji system but I have flown a friends. I liked it and was about to buy into the system but thought about it and would only use it on maybe 1 or 2 quads. So I bought HDzero and thought I would change over my my fleet but pads lifted on my 1wat vtx and I barely used it. Pretty disappointing. So after staying with analog for almost 6 years now I flew the walksnail system and I’m really impressed with a 1 board HD system that meets my needs. Yeah I hate the goggle strap and a few other things but they are minor issues.

super excited about this. got the walksnail VRX for my birthday and added the included VTX to my 5inch, and ordered one of these for my little 2 inch. Just got the email that it's shipping today. it's a 2S/3S build and my flight controller has a 3.3v a 4.5v and a 5v bec on it. wondering which one i should attach the power to? my guess would be 4.5v

Hey Nick :) great video! I am thinking about building a HD "freepick" (a freestyle toothpick 🤷‍♂), think odonata hd, or TKS GTR. A 2.5 inch 2s quad, what kind of motor / prop combo would you go for that type of build, carrying something like the HDzero system? is that something you think you will explore in the future?

My opinion not Nick's 🤷‍♂ : For something like that TKS GTR (2s 2.5") I'd go for 1103/1202.5 motors and some low to mid pitched 2.5" / 65mm triblades. Hopefully Nick sees this as well and is able to give you his two cents as well. [by the way Odonata HD can only take up to 2" props]

That crux3 canopy rear attachment point is perfect for holding the antenna down securely on a naked vista. The antenna connector is slightly more inboard, right as the plastic begins to curve upward. Sorry if I missed it, but what is the dry weight of that whoop? I need to try one of those stock hdzero antennas on my DJI whoop. It looks pretty light.

How did you get the crux 3 to hold the camera 🎥? I thought the new lite camera doesn’t have side mounting screws.

The blue LED cube causes the white balance to change. If you turn off the blue LED i bet the color stays the same.

I just broke a camera power looping my cube… agh! With the cost of digital, I would look for a canopy offering more protection… 😇 What would you fly in a whoop? HDzero or walksnail??

I prefer the flight feel of less weight, therefore in whoops I tend to use more hdzero. I don't have much Walksnail vtx, and therefore none of my outdoor micros are walksnail.

Thanks for your review! One question tho - does the 1S in the name refer to that its only useable with a 1S quad or what exactly does the 1S refer to? :)

The 1s is the intended market. But it can be used on any quad, voltage range for the product is 3.1v (making it 1 compatible) to 13v. We could wire it for power off a flight controller with a 5v or 9v pad or directly to battery voltage up to 13v, but I recommend if wiring directly to battery voltage to be just below the upper threshold as on plug in there is often a small voltage spike.

@@NickBurnsFPV Lens cleaning gadget 😁 It uses active carbon in the tip to suck up all the grease from the lens, I've used them on the DSLR lenses and filters forever. I used to use IPA but lenspen is superior to it 🤷‍♂️

Nick burns can you please give me the measurement of decased cameras mounting holes are apart corner to corner.....I know lens is 9mm and 14x14mm square....I'll superchat you a few bucks if you could please confirm distance between screw holes diagonally

by my calipers the holes diagonally at 15mm center to center. From the edge of the camera to the hole center is 12.5mm.

Question on the mounting, , what length are the screws and did you use 2 sets of gummies or hard plastic spacers? Also did you get them from a store or were they just from the parts box. Thank you.

The screws I used come with the runcam nano 3 and its mount. Or are you asking about the screws through the canopy. The spacers I used are clipped off a runcam or other camera nano to micro mounting adapter. This one shop.runcam.com/2-x-nano-to-micro-size-mounting-bracket-for-runcam-nano-sized-cameras/

Great video, am not new to fpv but have been using mostly analog. Am confused as to hd zero, walksnail, avatar, and dji… which vtx goes with which goggle? Can an hd zero vrx work with avatar? Is walksnail and fatshark the same thing? Does the hd vrx use the same bands as analog or are they specifically broadcasting on a closed feed between the two? I know you usually do micros but your teaching method is good.

At this point we have to view them as separate incompatible videos systems. HDZero requires hdzero vtx, camera and either the goggles or vrx. Walksnail and avatar are the same except when one mentions the avatar drone. Walksnail(WS) requires the WS vrx connected to other goggles or the WS goggles with the avatar video transmitter. DJI in FPV can sometimes be said is the link/vista or air unit, those are all the names of the video transmitters, which requires the dji goggles. Then we have the dji O3, latest, which at this point require the dji goggles v2 or dji goggles2 (new). The dji goggles v1 and v2 are visually the same but the v2 came with a battery. Thats the pairings in a nut shell, or on text :)

@@miguelc7738 No, no hdmi input on those. The Analog fatshark goggles do have hdmi input. Examples are the fatshark hdo2 goggles.

I have thought about a fleet of self charging whoops as a security surveillance system, basically they follow a GPS set of pin points that have solar powered battery packs with wireless charging pads stationed around the street or building or whatever is being monitored. A fleet of drones follow the designated perimeter GPS coordinates, staggered at a rate that maintains full visual coverage constantly and allows for short charging stops frequently as they are passed, and skip forward to the next available charge station. That could be applied to an indoor arena of segregated racing tracks.

It will certainly change the flight time and characteritics, but it will still fly. It will be less agile and aggressive capable. Maybe about 15% less.

For 1s 0802, for 2s 1102. I have found the new 1002 motors best for 2inch biblades. The 1102 lack the efficiency of either the 1102 or 0802.

TinyWhoop just released some 0802 30,000kv motors with 1.5mm shafts, would that pair well with a walksnail 75mm 1s build?
