To me it looks like the captain let her do the takeoff as part of her training. He had his left had close to the cloche every time, he was ready for intervention in case of need.

Fascinating. I was in the London Air Traffic Control Centre back at the end of the 70's. Seeing how it works in a non-English speaking cockpit was very interesting, especially the use of English FL numbers used between the crew amongst the more casual conversation which of course we didn't usually hear. As you would expect from Lufthansa, a top class professional crew.

Fantastic video! I flew in the Marines for 22 years. Retired from that 8 years ago. Und ich hab auch in Deutschland gewohnt als Kind. Irgend wann vermisse ich fliegen. Ich kann immer noch ein bischen Deutsch verstehen. Very good crew coordination between these two pilots. They switch back and forth from aviation English to Deutsch quite seamlessly. That was the most fun for me to watch.

The only good thing about these (Lufthansa's) MD-11s is the GE engines. I used to work on this fleet and they had way many more problems than the 747-200F that these birds replaced. LH is replacing them with 777 freighters. After the Boeing takeover of MD the aircraft was scheduled to be discontinued. Lufthansa convinced Boeing to continue production for the number of AC they wanted.

Initial Anne looked bit jinxed may be coz it was the first flight with the captain, but once she started the briefings she came to her natural aviator mode. :D And oh yes! May you turn to the left side of the MD 11 some day. Happy flying!

If you’re scared of flying, watching these videos really puts into perspective how normal flying is. You can see their faces are the same as that if someone who just works a office job. They are almost literally in autopilot mode themselves, this is basically second nature to them. Not only that, but watching these videos can help you become accustomed to the sounds of airplane and can make it more casual for you

Best thing about been a pilot would be no staff conflict. Each time a pilot goes to work they work with different pilots and staff, they just have to bring their smarts with them and be ready to fly. That would most likely eliminate the problems that come with working in an office or an environment were you are seeing the same peoples face 5 times a week right?? Surely..

Sehr interessant welcher Aufwand an Einstellungen, Funk, usw. betrieben werden muss, bis der Flieger mal abhebt. Bin vor einiger Zeit per Zufall auf diesen Kanal gekommen als ich ein Video von Captain Jürgen Raps gesehen hab. Ich wünsche euch allen Pilotinnen und Piloten nur das Beste für eure Zukunft. @@fatherwoodlouse yes, personality issues. Not with this crew, that's my point. The openness between Captain and First Officer. The relaxed, even humorous atmosphere. It was precisely the LACK of this kind of cockpit ease that was the direct cause of several tragedies in the past. That's what makes this pilot/copilot relationship so refreshing.

The flight crew, both, are truly impressive professionals, examples for all to follow. I am certainly impressed by Senior First Officer Kramm. But the sad part is that there is no update on her success in gaining her career goals, specifically to be promoted to the grade of Captain and be able to sit in the left seat. Did she finally attain the goal of Captain and, if so, what is she now flying.

That's BS Hokunin. Crew ressource management is a VERY big thing, on all flights with a multi-person crew. There's been a lot of accidents in the past because captains didn't work with their crew.

+Hokunin, thats wrong, First officers usually do the take off and most of the flying, Captains fly the final approach and landing! Check more videos and u will see! Takeoff and flying the plane is something a kid with some assistance can do, so ofc they trust their co-pilot. 2nd, First officer are very very able to handle a plane, they can land it, they are first officers because they need more experience before they take the left seat! Dont be confused.. EDIT: PS. check google for anybody knows how to fly a plane?? news. thank me later :)

@@Hokunin a first officer has the same training as a captain... The only difference are the hours in air. But he can control and land a plane as good as a captain..
