Avoid Overstriding When You Are Running

Overstriding is when someone takes too long a stride while running, which can lead to a number of problems! One of the main problems with overstriding is that it can cause a person to land on their heel, which can put a lot of strain on their calf muscles and increase the likelihood of injury.
Overstriding can also cause a person to lose their balance and make it harder for them to maintain an efficient running form. It's generally best to avoid overstriding and instead focus on taking shorter, quicker steps while running.

One of the best tips I was taught with distance training is breathing to a rhythm: count a certain number of steps, then exhale, same number, then exhale (keep repeating). At the time I would finish, or maybe 5-10mins later, I’d get back to my normal breathing pattern quicker and more easily.

I bought a treadmill 2 months ago and kept over striding and getting shin splits. I could barely get in a mile bc I was so exhausted and then I would have to wait for shin splits to recover. Recently came across your video and realized I’ve been doing it all wrong. It took me a few days watching your videos and tweaking my form. The other day when I finally got it right I ran TWO MILES without stopping!!!! Thank you so much for your content!!!

This is unheard off in so many running tutorial. Letting the gravity do the work is the best running tip ever and pulling your feet Instead of pushing makes it really efficient

I joined my track team and all we do is sprint and stretch, we never do pylos, we never work on form, and we never work on recovery. Even on days we’re we are supposed to take it back and not do too much we are still forced to sprint. Only difference between a hard and a light day is the distance we sprint. It’s annoying because I came to become more athletic for other sports but now I feel my body negatively responding to the constant sprinting we do. I don’t have much experience in track as this is my first time so I have no clue if this is actually how track is supposed to be practiced or if I should quit before I get injured.

You're literally answering your own question perfectly already! Never working on plyos, technique, proper recovery, strength training??... Doing the thing you're trying to do should always be a huge chunk of what you practice, but only the genetic freak with the ideal development throughout childhood can get away with just sprinting, just playing basketball, just doing X... Otherwise, you're gonna need a well-rounded approach that targets all facets of the sport or whatever you're trying to achieve.
