Heyo! Mitch and Day here 👋🏼
We’re just your typical American-Colombian couple determined to live every second of our precious time here on earth to the fullest. After a 10-month solo backpacking trip through South America, I (Mitch) stopped in Cali, Colombia to take salsa dancing classes 💃🏻. I only planned to stay for a couple weeks, but God had other plans for me. I met a cute Colombian girl (Day) in class, those couple weeks turned into a couple years, and before we knew it...we were married 👰🏻🤵🏼
Now we’re traveling the world full time as digital nomads, supporting ourselves by working online 👨‍💻👩‍💻
Our goal with these videos is to inspire you to step outside your comfort zone, give you an inside peek at our crazy imperfect lives, and show you that you don’t have to be rich to live an extraordinary life...all you need to do is make the choice!

This is all very cute money saving schemes, packing everything on your body and stuffing things in your neck rest…. UNTIL you get searched. I wouldn’t recommend doing anything that makes you look suspicious in any way when traveling to a foreign country. First of all, any country where you are NOT a citizen of can deny you of entry. Saving $100 on luggage fees sound like a great “hack” until you get pulled into a small room, miss your connecting flight or train, or worse, get sent home and miss your holiday altogether. I am not promoting excessive spending but recreational travel is not the time to be on penny pinching mode and cut corners.

When you travel, everyone you meet is going to see you exactly once. You don't need a varied wardrobe (as you so correctly pointed out). Living out of your travel bag for a week at home is a GREAT idea. Kudos to Rick Steves for demonstrating this about 45 years ago.

look man, I see your point with esim and all. But traveling and influencing this long has detached u from the base. esim is available on over the top newer models not the regular medium age phones we all have. 5E local sim are ok for us even if inconvenient for u. :) thanks for the advise, but keep in mind that you are not alone in this ever diverging species of traveling influencers that even if starting from a humble begining,, starts peddling more expensive gear, until we all feel inadequate and filthy poor. With all the bragging influencers traveling around the world while us peasant do not understand the advantage of some 2-300$ item or 1500$ cel phone. All while talking about avoiding 70$ airline charge. In a once a year voyage that we may or may not afford...

For those only wanting to do carry on, and know you’re going to do significant travel through the Asian Pacific region (Asia, Australia, New Zealand), consider seriously the weight of your empty packs right at the start. It’s no good having a well padded out, structured pack with all the bells and whistles, that weighs half or even a third of carry on weight limits of this region. The lighter your pack, the more breathing space you have for your tech and your gear, spread between your main pack and personal item bag. But also check what carry on restrictions your potential airlines through this region - some are strictly one bag 7kg, some are 2 bags of certain size up to 14kg in total, some you can upgrade to 10kg, some have size restrictions for personal item bag…

Both Paris Charles de Gaulle and London Heathrow will unpack your liquids and put them into their small ziplock bag. Anything that doesn't fit will get tossed. This happens on flight transfers there as well, if you're connecting.

Frontier Airlines in the USA told me it was not allowed to wear the excess luggage weight and that one had to pay ... I threw a lot of my back up stuff in the trash and wore my coat; the same airline employee asked me why was I wearing a coat?; matter of fact I have very low body temperature and I do get cold easily... I know airline employees have a thankless job run by an evil industry and they gotta get their fun yet it is miserable unless you don't mind being gougued for every little thing.

E-SIMs will not work on older phones. Beware. I buy unlocked phones for cash and make them last as long as possible. To keep costs down, I have not yet replaced my older phone, which cannot use E-SIMs. Check that your phone is compatible with E-SIMs before buying one.

Huge warning for all of you who are considering the eSim. I just bought a package hoping it would be such a novel experience as described in this video. I was happy to have a discount code, only to find out none of my phones are even compatible to run this eSim. I just wasted a whole lot of money on this 😭😭 - not hating, just sharing to warn others. Make sure to double check before you make a purchase..

In the 1970's when I travel, I used a small gym duffle bag with 2 extra shirt/T-shirt, 1 extra pair of socks, 2 extra underwear, a jacket appropriate for the time of year, a tooth brush, a comb. I wore the same jeans/pants for the trip, a pair of Converse shoes, a watch, passport/ID, cash/traveler's checks, and that was that.

I've been traveling carry-on only for almost 20 years and for the last 13 years I have been living in Southeast Asia. Most of the budget airlines here, such as AirAsia, limit you to one carry-on bag and one personal item that have a combined weight limit of 7 kilograms (a little less that 15.5 pounds). Most of the time they are relatively flexible about it but other times ... :) Over the years, I have learned to pack for the other times. Now my combined weight is never over 7 kg whether I am going for a long weekend or months long trips. And I always use a packing list. If an items isn't on the list, it doesn't go in the bag.

7kg weight limit? That's not just cheap airlines.. it's nearly all of them now! Thanks for the useful ad for e-sim, that's on my list to explore today. I often travel super light/carry on only but this trip I'm travelling with a musical instrument that is too fragile to want to check in. It does fit in overhead luggage but is 'interesting' each check in as it's just over 7kg. YES re travel vest with multi secret pockets. Brilliant investment.
