Scammers should be punished. No scam atleast in holy Varanasi

A. About Funeral.. It does cost 10k to 20k, but dont pay anyone anything because those who come to varanasi for cremetion they are rich enough to arrange the whole thing from their hometown... it would be insult to them if you actually offer money.. Unfortunately India is full of scam because govt is not strict enough... and the whole funeral does cost upto 300k/400k rupees for the whole ceremony.. B. In my opinion no one should be allowed to record cremetion. But its sad to see videos by foreigners see it as like Disneyland or something (no offense phil, you have been criticised by the internet enough)... And its so dirty.. you see mekkah, vatican city those places are so clean and so organised and you see varanasi... So much for sacred... Indians need to learn how to be civilized... C. Phil if you are watching this I would like to request you search on yt "Jimmy旅遊日誌".. the vlogger is from taiwan.. you will see the difference... The storytelling is top notch.. D. Your 2nd guide is very knowledgeable person.

I would suggest you to visit Madhya pradesh places like ujjain(a temple of lord shiva one of the Supreme god) bhopal (city of lakes) indore (cleanest city of india) sanchi (famous for Buddhist temples) Pachmari (hill station) kuno national park (forset ride with open jeep) .

Hey phil I have been on binge watch of your vlogs and Varanasi is the city i grew up in .we localities are many times scammed too so chill.btw u must have visited the temple vishvanath too i hope its literally behind the spot u started your vlog from anyways if ur in varanasi try the cuisine sweets specially prob best youll have trust me. Am moving to Chicago v soon for my medicine residency and ill miss this city like crazy so just enjoy this place it has the best culture cuisine and the most kind hearted ppl youll ever meet .if i be able to find ppl in chicago who carry even a fraction of kindness of varanasites ill feel blessed Enjoy!!!

Generally when you see a dead body, try to pay your respects by folding your hands and praying to god to give strength to their family and take care of the dead. Just a good practice not a rule

Ive seen the exact wood scam/donation scam in Korean blogger video, it just that people there try to get some money by fooling who's not local to area. I went to Varanasi and I was going to fell for it😂but that Korean blogger video saved me. Thanks again, to you too as well for showing this deceit.

I've been to Varanasi for a few days just two weeks earlier and ran into the same scam. It's not only this Raj guy, but an entire group of several people (some even featured in other KZfaq interviews). Most of them are nicely dressed and speak English quite well, and the grooming process might actually take one or two hours. I've watched them as they wait behind the newly build corridor wall to approach tourists. They usually tell a story that they are "volunteers" or "social workers" collecting donations for a nearby hospice. Then they offer to take you on a tour of Manikarnika and cash in. I've met Western tourists from many countries that were pressured to pay as much as 50 or 80 US$ as a "donation for wood" or face "bad karma". They were pushed very hard and felt so uncomfortable, just desperately trying to get away. It kind of ruins the whole experience. Of course it's a scam and the money is split up. They also try to take you to a silk factory, offer city tours, astrology readings, yoga classes etc. You just would not expect this at the holiest place, and being a bit overwhelmed when you first witness the rituals and cremations, it all happens so fast. On the bright side, I have also met the guide in the video, and he was truly the only honest guy around. He enjoyed talking to me without making a rupee, just being interested in foreign cultures and our way of life. However I think it's okay to share all that knowledge for a reasonable tip, as long as it's an honest deal and not a scam.
