I remember the Perfect Hansa. I watched that right after 3 Mountains, right at the beginning of COVID. Your gaming kept me sane through the combination of lockdown and working in the Emergency Room during the lockdown.

I'll always remember watching the Patrician 4 Perfect Hansa live. I was so sick I was bedridden and it was perfect for something to watch if I had the energy to do so while also allowing me to fall asleep when I needed to. Also, my dad happened to be visiting when I first got sick and and couldn't understand that I was unable to hang out with him so I used it as a deterrent so he'd leave me alone. By the end I was so invested that after I recovered I went back and watched the whole thing here on youtube to fill in all the bits that I missed. Anyway, 10/10 would pass out to it again

I'm a long time veteran of most big-name space games: EvE, Elite, & X4 to name a few. I personally adore X4. But, I recently herd about this title during this years summer sale on Steam. Thank you for an excellent introduction into the game. I realize this wasn't intended to be a new player tutorial. However, I found the organic way you moved into the game to be a perfect way to evaluate if I should buy it. Very much appreciated. And it seems I now have a entertaining play through to enjoy next (Perhaps two, given the mention of the 'perfect Hansa' and another title I've never tried)

New to the channel and Avorion, but I'm watching in the hopes that this'll encourage me to give the game a shot and maybe have some idea of what to do in my own playthroughs (though I probably won't spring for objectives like yours just yet).

Comfort control advice: You can hold down Tab to target anything around you and scroll it to the point when you get a glimpse of what you was searching for then hit Ctrl+Tab to reverse the scrolling to the right one It helps a lot when you want to scan a nearby meteors for a right mineral to mine or something hidden around asteroids Also you often have a giant asteroid and a hidden stash in the start sector on a start of a new game

@DDRJake i know you will most likely choose to not use it but even on the hardest setting the Rift rebuilders will work you will have to piolet another ship into the same system first to use it though

@DDRJake have you played EU2 or For the Glory? They are much more focused and immersive than EU4, especially EU2 with its era appropriate music which can easily be copied over to FtG to have the most updated(and it is updated to this day by one dedicated rogue dev)

It’s been so long since I last saw this game. Always enjoyed the game but i never get recommended videos.

Man, it's been years since I played this. I remember my main issue with the game at the time was that no matter how large of a ship you built, you were always hardcapped to X guns, depending on tier of the core system you were using. Also that those guns were always the same size unless you went out of your way to use make them bigger for absolutely no benefit. This in turn led me to building a massive carrier, because if memory serves amount of fighters was NOT limited by systems, but rather by size of the carrier blocks.

Why are those ships aerodynamic?

I am certainly enjoying myself on this series and I think this is actually the first of this genre of game I have ever really enjoyed watching. SciFi really isn't my jam with very few exceptions (and far fewer still of video games). Looking forward to watching slowly this series as the end goal continues to get further away. You were thinking of Endless skies around the two hour mark, absolutely loved that game, until I realized that trade goods never changed price, so all you needed to do was run the most profitable trade route over and over.. You were also thinking of Endless space for the narrative angle, which was what tripped you up.

Been years since I played this, and it looks like a lot has changed. The shops look very different, there's this "building knowledge" nonsense, Adventuring Companions. So much different in all the details at least.

In eve online a common saying is never pilot a ship you can't afford to blow up. Seems like this game is pretty similar in that respect.

so how good is this game compared to Cosmoteer.. i recently picked up Cosmoteer and am loving it.. i have a few nitpicks with the game like any game and wish there was more to do in that game (so im starting to play with mods) but overall the game is a solid game and does alot of things well for a sandbox game.. so im wondering how similar, whats better whats worse with this game over Cosmoteer and is it worth picking up

i don't buy tier 2 captains, tier 1 have the lowest salary and when they tier up they don't cost more in salary so i have extremly cheap high tier captains in the late game. big return on investment

I don't quite understand, can you not mark objects in this game? I'd assume the computer would track remnants of destroyed ships and you should be able to mark asteroids of interest, no? It seems silly that you run the risk of never finding something again if you focus on anything else for a moment.

I really like this game, but I can't play it. I start to get headaches and start feeling stomach ill after about 15 or 20 minutes. I can watch videos of it though, so that's good.

As somebody never having played this game, I feel the "perfect game" list misses some sort of ship-related goal. Max size ship? x ... million-billion "perfect" DPS? Maybe it's mostly covered by the other stuff anyway.

I tried charting the whole map, but the AI doesn't know how to defend itself when traveling. once you get an AI Captain and get the mod that lets you do looping orders again, You just looped the entire map I did it from the outer is going in so is one big circle. I waited until it had nice beefy shield so when it was under attack the outer rims nothing would hurt it. But it eventually got to a point where it was destroyed to play pirates. 😒.

So... Trojan Horse. Where did it come from, and was it real? The Trojan Horse as a term was introduced in the Aeneid by the Greek poet Virgil. The story goes that the Greeks built a wooden horse to honor the god Poseidon in the middle of the siege of Troy, then pretended to give up the siege and sail away. However, they had hidden 30 of their best warriors inside, and when the Trojans took the horse as a war trophy, the Greeks snuck out in the night and open the gates to the Greek army. Thus, the deception know as the Trojan Horse has become a modern-day analogy of pretending to do or offer one thing, and actually providing another that is unpleasant or dangerous. This IS actually based on real events during the Trojan war, but not as the poet described it. The wooden horse in question was based on actual siege engine designs, which often took on the names and appearances of animals when created. They dragged themselves out of the pile, realized their opportunity, and managed to sneak into the gate house and kill the guards there as they slept (negligent in their duty, this story is also a cautionary tale for soldiers on guard duty). The two soldiers opened the gates and ran for it, the Greek guard pickets saw the event happen, and ordered an immediate stealth raid. That stealth raid was more successful than originally expected, and the raid turned into a full-on assault that caused enough damage to the city defenses that it eventually took down the city of Troy entirely. Thus, the legend of the Trojan Horse was born and romanticized by Virgil into the book Aeneid, and it has been immortalized by the famous trilogy: Iliad, Aeneid, and Odyssey.

got the game years ago with life chaos never got to the center of the world heck got halfway when my pc died have it installed an never got the dlc with my back log built up of epic games and some ea games i got for some reason never was able to complete it when my next try happened my new AMD 5 pc fst1 gen pc had a fault it was warranty repaired. every now no an then i wounder if i want to bother to get to the core game wise nervous with my string of luck if i want sink 300+ hrs in a game world i might lose if this pc has a fault... sigh my last 2 pcs have been lemons sigh...
