I think some productions did that to compensate for removing the slightly racist song for gus.

@@crazycatzg3481 the original Growltiger's Last Stand involved Siamese cats being portrayed in a pretty racist way. It's been slowly pared back since the original production in 1981.

@@crazycatzg3481 I can't tell if you're serious or not here. Have you seen it? I dunno, man, if the old white guy who wrote it looked back on it and said "Yikes, that's a little racist," why wouldn't you just take him at his word? Nobody censored him, he censored himself.

Dude, “Cats” is an ensemble performance. You can just leave that digital zoom all the way out.

Out of all my years of knowing Cats, I have never agreed with this act. Personally, I always thought that it would make better sense had they done an original piece about "Fire-frore-fiddle" (Gus' ACTUAL past story). But as far as Rumpas and Growltiger go, they can only be completely different people/cats. Or hell, maybe Gus had people living inside of him lmao.

There was no source material for Firefrorefiddle, the Fiend of the Fell, aside from two mentions in Gus’ poem. They had to do something, so they moved this number from Act I to Act II. But as we all know, Gus once played Growltiger. Could do it again.

@@twistysnacks No he can't, he's admitted as much in interviews. That's why you always see "Music by ALW, lyrics by Someone Else".

Wow I would've thought this was the 1998 filmed version, had not some slight aspects been changed-- They all looked and sounded so similar!! (Perhaps I need to watch more professional productions of it... 🤭🤭😅)

Why was Gus so energetic....his entire character is being sad because he's not energetic and able to be what he was....he doesn't have a strong voice like he does here, it's supposed to be Shakey and ragedy.
