Munkustrap’s actor is just so extra I’m-

During the entire musical, Mukunstraps is like: "Guys I'm trying to tell a story and no one's doing anything correctly, I'm soooo done with your shits..." It's even more obvious in this particular song more than the others.

I love how annoyed Munkustrap is. He's my spirit animal. But by far my favorite thing is the Rum Tum Tugger coming in with his giant bagpipe and skipping around 😂

I laugh everytime Mungojerrie messed up the ' Bark '

Can you imagine what the actors must have thought when they were workshopping this show? "You mean to tell me you want me to be in a leotard pretending to be a cat, and then you want me to wear a gian show on my head and boxes on my head so I can pretend to be a cat pretending to be a dog?"

This song, "Jellicle Songs," and "Old Deuteronomy" are really where Munkustrap shines for me. Whenever he's presenting to the tribe (and the audience) he gets this certain stance, with his feet spread apart, chest out, shoulders back. It's exactly like a self-important tabby preening in the sun and I love Gruber for being able to do it in a way that conveys the character's grace and strength at once.

2:11 i love Mungojerries expression. After he meesed up his lines and Munk helps him rermember the right order he just grins happily as if to say: "Look i got it right, now"

I have no idea wtf is going on but munkustrap and mungojerrie are hot as hell

This song is so funny, because you can see the narrator getting frustrated like "Come on guys! We practiced this! You're embarrassing me in front of Old Duteromity!"

I just realized that Mungojerrie's "dog" costume is different from the other "dog" costumes. While everyother pollice costume is a shoebox for everything Mungojerrie's costume is Juice Boxes for his hands, a Shoe for his head and pin cushions on his feet. It's very Mungojerrie-like

My favorite part of this whole thing is that Munkunstrap is trying so hard to put on a good play for the leader, but every cat just messes up. i love how he just gets sligthly more annoyed each time something happens XD

Michael Gruber (Munkustrap)‘s voice is absolutely incredible. It’s got such an operatic quality despite basically just narrating. That and the fact that he’s one of the most feline like in his movements out of everyone - no wonder the role of Munkustrap usually goes to the best actor in the company. It’s such a deceptively difficult role.

I know that the song is supposed to be a story but seeing Munkustrap done with everyone is literally me, Rum Tum Tugger playing those bagpipes, and mungojerrie messing up bark is so hilarious. Munkustrap is literally my spirit animal in this song

What I like about this musical is you feel you are getting a glimpse into a secret "cat culture." The fact that things like the Heaviside Layer don't completely make sense just seems to show that it is something known only to cats and not fully understood by humans. The things they sing about are things you can imagine cats would talk about if they could, like their fur and hunting mice or the fact that they are not dogs. This story just sounds like the kind of thing a cat would love to hear: a bunch of silly dogs fighting, then being scared away by a single, all-powerful cat. They would be thinking, "Yeah, cats are so badass!"

I love Teazer and Jerrie's visible confusion about who says "BARK!" next.

So they cast him and this dude had to memorize this song with perfect german pronunciation in a week and a half. When I was younger, I didn't really care for this piece as it was not melodic enough for my liking. But re-watching it now I think it is a beautiful mess. All the confusion, the annoyed Munkustrap, the confused Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer (until know I hadn't even realized it's them), and the overall nonsense going on in the background. Hilarious! I've just watched it three times in a row and I still find more details that highly amuse me.

I love how Rumpleteazer just won’t let Munkustrap alone at some point. The way she rubs her butt on him at 2:15 makes me believe there’s something going on there 😂
