I'm always happy to see Gene keeping it real. Acknowledging the compromises, but praising the positives. Seems like ML has a real winner with this line. Great creative design choices like the 2.5 way center and the versatile mp10 angled height speaker. 👌

I very much want to hear that center channel! I desperately want more 3 way center speakers. Short of that, this design, crossover re-thinking, and angle up is nice to see manufacturer thinking like me. Great ideas I've been waiting to see in a product! 👍

A few years ago I was looking to buy several bookshelf speakers for my home theater build. The Martin Logan 35XT was the one I decided on. I was all set to pull the trigger when I learned the warranty was basically useless. They didn't cover the driver - the most likely component to fail in a speaker. I emailed Martin Logan to make sure it was true, and it was. If a manufacturer isn't confident in what they build, why should I? I didn't buy their speakers and strongly urge people to check out the warranty before buying anything from Martin Logan. Maybe it's changed since then.

Some innovative designs on display here. Looking forward to a review of the MP10 on-wall with the tapered rear-firing port and 5.5" driver. The promised frequency response is "81 Hz - 25kHz ± 3 dB" so I assume it'd cross over nicely with a sub without any major midrange issues, which cannot be said of some on-wall designs. My Emotiva E1 is rated as "65 Hz - 28 kHz (+0/-6 dB)" but those 4" cones do seem to miss something.

Great review, probally too much and big for my small livingroom. I have chosen for bookshelves and satellite speakers in a 5.2 4 setup. Very happy with my system using 2 Rel tx5 subwoofers, like it more when subs blends with rest of speakers then a boomy sub...

I’d love to hear what the center sounds like compared to a 3 way design in the same price Range, I was planning on getting the Kef R3s with the matching R2C center down the road but these new speakers as a whole look like a steal.

The different crossover points on the center channel is very interesting. Wonder how it works in practice, why haven’t other companies tried this to solve lobing issues with MTM center channels?

Because 95% of centres are mtm irrespective of price would indicate its not a big problem...

Because it causes uneven dispersion horizontally, and so one side will sound different than the other

@@Luke-qs2cg just like this 2 and a half way design has different sounds from each bass driver? Anyways If it's just the money seat then a mtm makes no difference as both are equal distance like in my system I suppose ... 🤔

I would say that is because a 3 way with the woofers flanking a tweeter over the mid is a far better solution. I am excited about this series, but definitely not because of the centers.

I was just thinking. I've heard it said that it's important to get the 7 bed layer right before adding a second set of atmos speakers because of the limited atmos content and the amount of rear surround information is greater than atmos information. Does it make any sense to have more height channels than bed layer? One pair of the 6 ceiling speakers will only be used for objects, correct?

Awesome video!! Can you recommend a avr to push 4ohm speakers that’s $2000 or less? I have the motion20i as my fronts and a new Martin Logan foundation center. All 4ohm. And I was gonna add rears of Martin Logan which are probably 4ohm. I ordered the onkyo rz50 but I was told it’s not gonna be great for long term as I expand my system.

Why you prefer the height speakers here compared to in ceiling? I would Go / Upgrade a top middle ceiling to my front and rear height

I'm curious how the center channel measures, most centers don't tend to measure well due to the lobing issue, I wanna know if their solution does actually end up solving the issue.

I posted on the Audio Advice video about this also, but I am curious of your thoughts on doing the 5.2.6 setup instead of the 7.2.4 setup. The middle heights could be used as surrounds even though they are placed up high. Obviously its not ideal but I would think surrounds would be the better choice over middle heights just bc theres more information there. However, what they did with the 6 heights is an interesting choice and Im curious about how it sounds and any thoughts on going that route.
@Audioholics
@Audioholics Жыл бұрын
If you have only 1 or 2 rows of seats and get good coverage from 4 height channels, I'd probably opt for 7.2.4 ASSUMING the listener is not up against the back wall where the back channels would be. I really examine these speaker combinations based on room layout and seating arrangement and of course what the significant other would allow 😁

Can I use my 2 Monolith subs with the Martin Logan F100’s or F200’s? My only thinking is how fast the bass response is with those towers would I hear a delay with my Monolith subs?

I don't understand why you "can't" put on/in-ceiling speakers on/in a vaulted ceiling. (Depending on the pitch,) wouldn't on/in ceiling speakers with a vaulted ceiling accomplish the same angled-toward-the-listener goal as this room but better because the speakers would actually be above you?
@dextermorgan1

You can. I have vaulted ceilings. I also have on ceiling Atmos speakers.

It works fine. I have vaulted ceilings with 4 in ceiling Atmos speakers. Sounds great, is it a ideal setup? No, but how many family room setups are ideal nowadays.

How Atmos with 6 Speakers above works?? Is it something of a upmix,because Signal is 4 speaker Maximum? I heard that the top middle are silent then..so what sense that Makes??

Great concept, purposely designing an imperfect demo room. I mean, in fairness it IS lined with a bunch of sound panels that would rarely be accepted into a family room space, but well done all the same. 👊

Yes I heard very neutral midrange I'm these demos. You could apply some low Q EQ if you have measurement data on the speaker.
