He was only holding back at the beginning, he did race serious in the later part of the race but ofc. The whole thing with the person falling in front of him happened.

Mostly it's just respect for Manabu's decisions and stuff hehe (Manabu is just very smart and a great guy overall). Ayanokoji is a king, but despite all that he's great at acknowledging and respecting how good a person's decision was, even if it isn't what he would have done!

@@clintrocker111 Not really as a senpai, since that would mean Manabu is technically on a higher standing. Ayanokoji pretty much seems him as a sort of equal, and treats him as such. Even Tachabane says that he shouldn’t speak so casually to a senpai, but Ayanokoji does, seeing him as an equal

@@hexcss9153 Kinda disagree. Obviously ability wise they are competetive but Manabu may be the only one Kiyotaka has legitimately taken advice from so far. Manabu's conversation when he was leaving the school was pretty much the turning point that gave Kiyo his current motivations in the LN
