Farhang Foundation presents:
BARAYE by Azam Ali and Ramin Torkian, featuring special guest artists Hamed Nikpay, Mamak Khadem, Arash Avin, and Mahsa Ghassemi.
Originally written and performed by young Iranian singer/songwriter Shervin Hajipour in the early days of the recent Iranian uprising in which he brilliantly strung together tweets from the public to form the poignant lyrics of what has gone on to become an anthem of the Iranian people in their quest for freedom.
This edition of #FarhangPerformances pays tribute to Shervin's great artistic contribution to Iranians. In the spirit of solidarity, Azam Ali and Ramin Torkian decided to gather a few of their fellow artists to perform this song in tribute to Shervin and the people of Iran.

I am not Persian, but I know a few. Of course, living in the USA, we are given limited information that usually benefits the government. I listen to Shervins song on repeat everyday and pray 🙏 🤲 you get the freedom so many are dying for. I don't care about anyones belief system. We are human first. I wish the song was transliterated so I could read it in English. It is already translated so I know what it means. I didn't need words to hear the pain and sorrow in Shervins song. I pray for your safety and freedom.

I have watched/listened to so many versions of Baraye in the pst weeks. This was so moving for me. The courage that everyone in this freedom movement is displaying is overwhelming. As a Baha’i, during this government, so many of us have lost everything, all that is dear to us desecrated, people imprisoned and murdered. Someone I know spent 10 years in solitary confinement in Evin . The only thing he could see through the window in the door was his death sentence plastered to the far wall. We are not hated by the people. We are hated to the point of wanting to wipe us out by the government. We pray for freedom for EVERYBODY in Iran. They have been imprisoned for far too many years. BARAYE!

I thought of my friends who died fighting with me in Tunisia during the Jasmine Revolution. All versions of Shervin's masterpiece are the best in their own styles & powers! Thanks to united Iranian artists. I hope all of them get together (I mean all of them around the world along with Maestro Arash Fouladvand ) and sing this revolutionary anthem like WE ARE THE WORD back in 1985 when it was organized by late Michael Jackson for Africa. We could raise huge amount of money from the sale of the song to support freedom movement in our beloved mother land. WOMEN LIFE LIBERTY
