It had been 13 years since Pat Tillman left behind the final locker of his four-year NFL career. On a February day in 2015, it was seconds away from being demolished as part of a renovation. That's when this story took a turn and added another layer to what was already a legendary story.

I had the honor to spend some time with this young man, just before he graduated from Ranger School. I was a medic at Camp Rodgers when he went through school, and he was humble, attentive, respectful, and most of all larger than his stature. You didn't see that, you saw a Ranger, a Soldier, and a man who had your respect immediately. You understood that he was a special human being and I'll never forget the interaction. God Bless the Tillman family, and their sacrifice to our country. The Army lied to his family, something I'll never forgive even though I served for 20 years. He deserved better, and so did his family. He truly was a great person, and a great American.

When I went to Afghanistan my unit was positioned along the border with Pakistan at a small outpost named Camp Tillman. It was in that area where Pat lost his life. RIP Tillman.

As a very long time Cardinals fan I didn't even know that Tillman's locker was saved and on display. A little over 2 years ago I was able to to go to the Cards facility for a TV event that was being filmed. Walking to the cafeteria I saw the display. It was almost a shock, I stood still for more than a few minutes silent...just looking at the artifacts. So much respect for Tillman and what he stood for.

When you pick to go to the military to defend your country when you could have had a large NFL contract that is a true hero Many go to the military because they have no direction, maybe they are broke or need the military to pay for school This guy didn't need any of that he did it from his heart he could have stood home and became a millionaire That is what you really call a hero

And, disgracefully, the NFL only allowed the team to celebrate Pat at the beginning of one game, and wear a small number 40 sticker on their helmet for that one game only. Jake and a couple other Cardinals decided to keep wearing the sticker and were fined a ridiculous $250,000 for every game afterwards that they continued to honor Tillman. This lasted about two weeks til some military vet groups caught wind. The fines were donated to veterans services but it doesn't earn forgiveness from a long time season ticket holder and life long Cardinal fan that I am. It's one thing I'll never forgive or forget that the NFL did to this team, the statewide fanbase, the veterans and the Tillman family.

@Ryan Berry He did what he thought was the right thing at the time. Our country was so raw and hurting. Please have the decency to respect the man for giving all of himself for what he believed.
