I just upgraded to SSD (I did the M2 internal, not SATA) using the software described. It did not show in Setup as a boot option (F2). But if I pressed F12 during bootup I could select it. I left the HDD in but disconnected it to save battery power by not spinning. A cold boot takes about 13 seconds. After keying in password, the laptop was up and running all apps in 22 seconds! Even my iPad is not that fast on a cold boot. Speed? A normal boot was about 15 minutes (5 minutes to get to the log in screen alone). Plus my Logos Bible software used to take about 8-10 minutes to fully load. Now it is less than 60 seconds.

I’m having a problem I installed my new SSD went into bios and change the boot sequences to sad being first and my windows boot manager being second but my 2 External hard drives and the hard drive in the laptop won’t show up the External hard drives show up in the bottom right but I can’t see the drives or access them but if I go back into bios and switch it back around it all works fine but it’s running off of the hard drive

Hi, i have a dell inspiron 15 5000 series 5567 model (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2701 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)). It only has 4GB ram and i want to add another 8GB. You think it will hold 12 GB? Thank you for your respose

I have an i3 processor( I am not sure of the generation, but I purchased around 2017) and 4GB RAM, can I add 8GB RAM instead of 4 GB ? Hoping for your reply

Useful tutorial but how on earth did you get the case off. I have the exact same laptop but can't budge the case clips where the dvd drive is located. Any tips please? It looked like you was struggling too but you cut away from recording that bit. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the comment. I think I just used multiple pry tools and slowly wiggled it out. If I remember correctly there was a hidden screw by the dvd compartment which might have stopped you from opening the case fully.

@@AzNstat when I open the drive tray I can see a screw into the case which I will unscrew but can't find an easy way to get the drive out without damaging the runners the drive is on. Will have to have another look. Thanks for your reply though 👍

Yes it does. It'll make things boot faster and be able to use more programs. Definitely worth doing.

It's a pry tool which you can get from ebay. Most phone repair shops will sell it.

What did you do to make the disk detected in BIOS?

It auto detects but I put bios to default then changed the priority to boot on ssd

Have the same issue you had first try with it not reading it in the BIOS, but mine doesn't change 😭

Did you make sure the gold pins are in all the way, or that the bios is updated, or that the board can take the same SSD?

It is advised to back up your data anyway just to be sure your data doesn't get deleted or corrupted

According to Dell website it was up to 8gb but other upgrade websites say 16gb. I've ordered 8 gb (2x4g) to replace what I assume to be 2 x 2gb. x
