Looking to do this upgrade to my Inspiron 5559. Currently it takes forever to launch anything, super slow computer. Do you think the SSD would make the laptop usable? Or would you recommend just buying a new cheap laptop instead? Primary use is just internet browsing, but it still takes for ever to launch it and get things going.

I'd say if you laptop is 500GB HDD same as mine, then install another 500GB SSD, or 1TB SSD depends on your budget and for the super slow, takes forever to boot up, thats is your RAM, upgrade your ram to 8GB or max 16GB I have the same model Dell inspiron 5559 mine is Corei5 6200u, it was 4gb ram only, I upgraded to 12GB RAM now its faster than ever. But gaming on this model laptop sucks, AMD Radeon R5 M335 cheap bad and fortnite lags even on low settings. I hate this laptop

dude, just do undervolting. I have done to my 5558. Its better than before. Yes ssd will make it faster no probs.

SSD is the way to go for any old laptop, also a memory upgrade from 4GB to 8GB will allow you to have more apps open at the same time. Best and cheapest option, I recommend this to all my friends and customers. Your boot time should go from a few minutes to 15-30 seconds

can I use an nvMe ssd disk instead of a EVO SSd? Does it have the socket for a NVMe ssd disk?

There is no place to mount a NVMe so use a SATA SSD 2.5 inch

i have a dell inspiron p51f001 and i tried upgrading my 250gb hdd drive to 250 gb ssd drive (crucial) but its not recognizing it to boot up.. can someone say why is this?

Check if it works without the HDD. If it is booting perfectly (check with a restart also) then problem is the "recovery" in the HDD. Format completely the HDD by taking it out and connecting to another computer. Put everything back and you will no longer be facing such problem.

I'm having a heck of a problem because the 2 screws on the left side of my hard drive housing - like at 2:15 in playback - will NOT budge. Anyone got any ideas for me on how on earth I can get them to unscrew? It seems very weird to me that they are locked up tight like this.

I finally got it like an hour later. Sprayed the 2 stuck screws with a tiny bit of WD40 & waited several minutes; that didn't work. Then tried again, no. Then got out my pliers & that worked. Maybe the WD40 helped though, who knows.

Это у всех такая проблема, и у меня тоже. Это так инженеры сделали Dell Inspiron 5558. Скорее всего проблема в Биосе, но никто не смог её побороть. А автор видео нам не показал, что компьютер вместе с SSd не работает.

I just upgraded my ram with (2) Crucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM. Big improvement (coming from 4GB). I'm considering an SSD drive next

Yup this laptop s*cks buddy AMD rad r5 m335 is simply not for gaming, but you can stream, video editing for hours, etc if you throw a 16gb ram 1tb 7200rpm 2.5 9.55mm HDD, in dvd writer slot put SSD 1TB 2.5 using caddy. But its simply not for gaming. beside if ever any games runs, like NFS most wanted you'd prob get only 20-21 fps and its gonna overheat like hell.

Dell Inspiron 5558 doesn't support SSD _only_. Laptop doesn't start a boot process. Nobody knows why.

Fine, but you need to copy the data first. You now have a brick that won't boot. Your operating system (windows) was on the disk that got removed.

It seems obvious to me - or at the very least extremely likely - that they already do have a backup of the system & are just showing the actual replacement of the drive in this video.

well from that point on it's as simple as just having a windows installation flash drive (I'm pretty sure both Dell and Microsoft offer tools for that nowadays)

Yes , remove the CD drive (only one screw is holding it), buy a caddy and put the SSD with it.

The drive identifier numbers for HDD and SSD are different and one type won't understand the other. Clone HDD to HDD or SSD to SSD. It CAN be done, but a lot of back-door work to make it function properly.

I cloned my hdd too an ssd and everything works perfect except for one little (major) thing. My dell 5558 boots but can not restart. It works only with hard bopot and not with soft boot.
