We should absolutely show up for those closest to us, and just because we’re aware of one way MLK did not show up doesn’t mean he didn’t show up for his family in any other meaningful way. According to his children, he definitely did. But we’re letting one thing outweigh the rest of his family’s experience with him as well as the ways that he impacted the world. Is that fair?

Honestly, no one knows if MLK made it in. Popularity on Earth for a good cause does not provide one an automatic ticket in Heaven. VERY FEW leaders are willing to make the sacrifices and speak truth no matter the physical, financial, or social consequences that MLK made. Morally speaking, he was living a duplicitous life in that he regularly had affairs with other women, as did many of the other men(predominantly ministers)working alongside him in the Civil Rights movement. In fact, it was a fellow organizer within the Civil Rights Movement, a gay man, Bayard Rustin, who said he had never seen such blatantly shameful behavior as he saw among the leaders in the Civil Rights Movement. ALL of them had girlfriends in every city and town they went to. I liken this to the Bill Cosby sexual assaults: On the one hand, Bill Cosby DID bring positive images to America and beyond of Black family life and successful Blacks as business owners, professors, attorneys, scientists, etc., instead of wild, half raised, broken home, drug pushers, teen moms, prostituting for income, etc. On the other hand, you could say Cosby didn't practice what he preached, because in his private life, he exhibited behaviors that were no nos in his TV series and comedy routines(clean comedy). In closing, I appreciate the sacrifices that MLK and many others made, but the willful, repetitive adultery was inexcusable.

I refuse to allow someone to undermine his sacrifices as well as his family's over discretions he and his wife moved past. What contributions is she making that is or will change the paths of others for generations to come??? How dare people from this generation stand in criticism of someone willing to go frontline in the war against humanity? When he laid his life down for the rising of the lives of others, I'm confident the last thing his wife thought about was his infidelity. Im confident, it is the last thing his kids thing about. His wife stood by his side in life and in his death, the last thing any woman will ever be permitted to do is disrespect that!

I like your well-balanced synopsis!💯 Basically, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. It's true that he wasn't perfect, but nobody is perfect so we should appreciate all of the good things that he did overall. The freedoms that we enjoy today is because of MLK and others of his ilk and we should never forget that nor take it for granted. We should use our freedoms to learn and grow in every area of our lives. So that we too can leave a good legacy that improves the world. 😇

What does it make us if we sit in judgement of MLK? It is so easy for many of us to be judgmental. Many people make mistakes. If we do then it is up to each individual to own it. And account for whatever lead us to our actions. And most of all, we must forgive ourselves for whatever lead us to that place. It is never one person involved. It is both, and each have to atone for their own actions, within ourselves, and if appropriate, with our god. All other uninvolved people are just peripheral, and whatever they say, think, or whatever stone they think they must throw, is inconsequential.

Honestly her response to this is biased and judgemental and it's coming from a place of not knowing all of the facts we weren't growing up in that time so why should we speculate on how they lived. She made this about her nothing more. If we really want to go there why does her opinion even matter. I'm sure there are many who don't know a thing about her personally yet people speculate about her. So how is it any different from MLK he accomplished things despite not being a perfect human being. Yet people are so quick to judge. People in general make mistakes but it's what we do after that mistake that makes us better not perfect.

These so called "famous" people always have something controversial to say. Specifically the ones whom piggy backed off the success of others. They say the most negative shit online because they're unhappy with themselves. I'm not a huge MLK fan. I never grew up in that generation, so I couldn't feel the impact of what he did first hand. I do know that he was a good leader for his people and he sparked change with racial issues. Him cheating on his wife and his leadership are two separate things. It didn't affect anyone else other than his own family. So how can I say he wasn't a great husband or father. I find it funny that B Simone even has an opinion on it. She was the same one who said she wouldn't date a guy with a 9-5. One would assume she rather date a rich dude who has an entourage of women at his fingertips.

She's not a good qomen because she can snuggle up close to another woman's man while taking a picture and stirring up negative talk in that strong relationship. Strong because her trickery did not work. Don't do things to other woman's men that you wouldn't want done to you. She can go and have a few bitter seats. I believe in karma. God bless 🙌

Folks just compared a regular regular entrepreneur to fighting for the rights of an entire race of people even when your life was continuously threatened… while sitting in a seat/position that he helped provide and gave his life for you to have…

I also feel like if you are great… you are great. You can’t be great in a couple of aspects of your life and a piece of ish in another part and still be “great”… maybe just fine, but not great, because the bitter balances out the sweet. It’s like mixing hot and cold water, once you add that cold water it’s no longer hot, its luke warm, neither hot nor cold, but both. There is a word for both and great is not it. If you’re great and trash at the same time then you’re no longer great. You’re just alright. Great is great and trash is trash… you can’t be both, because then you become something else.

She needs to go see someone because NO man or woman should be put on a pedestal when we are all human and flawed. She needs some sort of healing to be triggered by a man who was not her father or her husband. Its ok to get help when you need it. Pretty sure she has a few skeleton bones but don't we all 🤷‍♀️

Speaking the truth. It's not a matter of what the world perceives, but for the one that actually experienced within the situation. It's easy to see a perception for the one to put on a show, but harder for one to understand the truth* Real talk.*

From my recollection I don't remember her doing something as GREAT as being BRAVE enough during an era that was dangerous to fight for this ungrateful woman FREEDOM...HE IS A GREAT MAN. As a husband that's a different topic..as a great father, that's a different topic(fatherhood). As a great son, another topic..etc you get my point. When this woman can level herself as highly then she can speak of others. Maybe she would be grateful if she knew what it meant to fight for FREEDOM. Wonder does she not like freedom?? Who doesn't?

Ever researched Einstein's personal life? It was a mess! - Yes to keeping leaders accountable but no to discounting all their goodness for the single reason that they too, made mistakes. There's a space to be grateful.

One thing i’m not going to do is sit up here and act like i’m holier than thou because i’m not. People are so quick to point out peoples flaws and sin and mistakes and be the very ones messing up thinking they perfect. We all fall short of the glory of God all of us. Including me. Excuse my french i F up a lot . But i try my best to repent of sins and dust myself off and keep it moving.

MLK was a great man with great contributions for humanity. What makes me roar with laughter and makes my eyes roll into the back of my head is that the pathetic manosphere is now trying to liken KS to MLK. LOL ....The difference is MLK fought for freedom for people of color and for all people.. KS was an image consultant who repetitively bought fragrance candles from stores and would burn them online, review them and then return them to the store. He did it so much stores banned him from their establishments. It's like trying to compare Gandhi to a flim flam beactch named Velvet. 😁😁
