Mike Babcock is resigning as head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, it was announced Sunday. This comes after investigations by the team, NHL and NHLPA into the 60-year-old Babcock’s conduct during his brief time with the club. Pascal Vincent will take over as head coach.

But if someone asked to see my cellphone pictures l, at work, I would immediately feel violated and simply wouldn’t do it. Too much risk 😛 I’m thinking Babcock isn’t actually that bad. It’s just a bunch of bored hockey idiots who jump on whatever media bandwagon headline there is. I personally feel bad for Babcock. And the media ripped into him way too hard. In a way, the entire hockey community and the far left (triggered and outraged nobodies) cancelled Mike Babcock. Because he yelled and they didn’t like it. And he tried to do a teambuilding exercise with his team. And it didn’t go as planned. And he didn’t understand the implications thereof. Congratulations everybody’s he’s gone. You can continue to insult him and do things WAY worse than Babcock has ever done, in the name of getting rid of him. You’re all admirable people for chasing him right out of the league. I want nothing to do with anyone who reacts to news and engages with hockey or people like that. Time to stop becoming so outraged 24/7, stop insulting and canceling people through your actions online. - a saddened and disappointed hockey fan

Just wondering if this is apart of the media aspect the players sign in their contracts or if it's potentially something more sinister. Of course it's not, it's acceptable for the NHL not to push for an investigation and closure of the potential rape of 2018 and they are the judge, jury and, well they are the owners. I don’t have all the facts but I have an aweful feeling that Mike Babcock is a victim of revenge that runs deep within some in the hockey community (players, agents, etc). Asking to see photos of a family member while trying to build a relationship does not strike me in any way as some kind of attack or invasion of privacy. Make no mistake, the player / coach dynamic is much different now a days. In the past, the coach had more sway, but not any longer. They really are equals in many respects given the players contracts and so on. So the notion that such action from Babs is indicative of him asserting control over the players is silly. If a player is offended or does not wish to share pictures, all he needs to do is say so to Babs. Instead, what’s happened here is they appear not to have said anything to Babs but then ran to media contacts to undermine the man’s character. The same thing happened in Toronto and it was disgusting. Now a hood coach and man, has been destroyed over trivial matters. If there are people out to destroy him, I hope you are happy and will be able to live with yourself. And to see how many publicly just fall into line with the narrative is a disgrace as well. Guilty before being proven as much seems to be par for the course these days. Hang in there Babs

That was my initial reaction too, based on the damage-control based reports because why would anyone complain about asking players to choose some photos to share? But what we're hearing now is actually kind of disturbing. In the year 2023 NOBODY is under the illusion that a boss can tell his workers to unlock their personal phones for him to scroll through their personal photos. There is something dark in that guy's behaviour toward the players.

@davidfitzpatrick6535 let me see your phone, I want to see your pics and apps to determine in my opinion what type of person you are. While Babcock is not the players' employer, he is the guy that will ultimately determine how much ice time a player sees in games, based upon his determination of what type of person they are. Get it yet? Highly personal, invasion of privacy, unethical and probably bordering on illegal if not already a violation of the NHLPA contract.

@@donzender9008 sure I would say ur employer has every right to know what type of person u are by what u put on FB etc. In wat least here in Ontario Canada employers reserve the right to look up ur social media account for both hiring and continue working purposes.

Maybe he was just overexcited about coaching in NHL again, and had lapse of judgment. It is unfortunate, he was a good coach but thats probably the end for him as coach in NHL.

How dare he want to learn about the actual human beings he will spend the next ten months struggling on the road with. Before the snowflakes melted we used to call these semi uncomfortable somewhat annoying situations “team building exercises”. Get over your egos and here’s an idea. Maybe don’t take dirtbag pics you’re too embarrassed to even show your mama. Use that as a gauge not people’s sensitivity.

The team put out a statement last week saying all he wanted was to see pics of family and that was it. Boone Jenner even said Babs didn’t do anything wrong. So allegations that prove to be false can still get you fired? F this woke soft league.

Yeah, Jenner didn't have a problem with it. Others did. So they weren't false allegations. Boone Jenner does not speak for the 19 other players on the team.
