That shows Matthews is able to carry the load of a first line, Marner needs Tavares. I don't think Marner gets 68 assists without Tavares on his line. I also think Matthews has better projections, this is why nobody would be happy to pay Marner the same as Matthews. It's just facts. Marner deserves a pay day, but not the amount he is asking for. At least not with the Leafs.
