This week has been one of the most exciting since we've been here - our chicks hatched! Amazingly, all 17 eggs hatched and now we have 17 baby chicks in the corner of our living room.
We think the majority of them are Barred Plymouth Rock, but there are a couple of Bluebell crosses in there too.
We will be updating the web shop this weekend with 10 wooden coat hooks, handmade by Cem at our kitchen table from sustainably sourced wood, from trees felled on our own land.

@@lostartsofnature6113 At what age do you let them meet the big outdoors and are you going to keep them?

@@TracyKNixon they'll need to be big enough to stand up for themselves against our adult chickens and cockerel, so it will be a good few weeks yet. Probably somewhere around 15 weeks of age, give or take. The 7 girls will join our flock of free-range chickens roaming the woodland. Some of the boys are destined for the freezer I'm afraid to say. However, some will find new homes so that they can have their own chicks someday!

@@lostartsofnature6113 Thank you! Wishing them all luck! I look forward to seeing them progress and you too! If I had them in the corner of my lounge I would just want to sit and cuddle each one all day! Off to catch up on your earlier podcasts....
