Ave Maria isn't a sad song. It's a beautiful prayer that's very important in the Catholic church. The first part recounts the Angel Gabriel greeting the Blessed Virgin Mary on the day of the Annunciation. The middle recounts St. Elizabeth greeting Mary, both pregnant (Elizabeth with John the Baptist, Mary with Jesus of course. Jesus leaps for joy in Mary's womb during the greeting. The final part identifies Mary's holiness and adds a petition for intercession. It's a beautiful, joyful song.

Ava Maria is a very emotional song. The story is significant in Catholic theology: the story of Mary becoming the mother of Jesus. And the music uses melody and rhythm to resonate with people's emotional responses, to emphasize the importance of the story and to establish an emotional bond among all the listeners. Music has always done that. Your son is very in tune with the sounds of the world.

When I was a teen delivering papers in the mornings and it was dark, there was this house which I felt was haunted cause every time I put the paper into the door it was forcefully pulled inside. One morning I heard a baby crying and I was like "nope, not gonna die for a paper" and started to run away only to find it was a cat nearby 😂

He is just adorable! Music is so powerful. I’m sure you sang to him while you were pregnant. They remember and respond to things like that. My mom used to sing American Pie to me while she was pregnant. I don’t remember ever not knowing the words. I used to sing a lot of U2 to my son, he absolutely responded to those songs more than others. They pick up our emotions too. I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve got a little musician there though. ❤

Judging by the experiment it doesn't look like the baby enjoy opera music in comparison to other type of music where he's laughing and clapping. The baby probably thought his mum is crying when she sings opera to him that's why he appears sad.

Certain kinds of music reach down deep into your soul, and the feelings can be overwhelming. I have always been that way. Certain kids of music make me cry, even today at my advanced age of 66. My daughter was the same way as a child. Your beautiful boy is in touch with his emotions already, and at a young age. That's a good thing, imo. God bless him and you.

I believe he could sense the emotional tone of the song. He knew it's not meant to be something that you just smile and go along with. It is something to be emotionally connected with. Like he knew what the tone was supposed to convey to the listener. Music resonates with us all at an early age. Tone can say more than what you hear on the surface.
