My first flight out of annual is always solo, day VFR, circling over the airport due to the increased risk. I check all the systems and then land back at the airport where I got the annual done. That way, if there is a problem, the shop can fix it ASAP. I also do a very thorough post flight inspection after that first flight, checking for fluid leaks, missing screws, etc, so things can be fixed before I fly back home. It’s all about risk management.

Like the glass cockpit and avionics in that prop job. And you even have a automatic channel changer in the right seat. It is a world of difference from the 1970's cockpit.

75 Whiskey could not have been in better hands. Those guys there are spot on. I had a new radio and transponder installed about five weeks ago. There prices are very competitive and professional. Nick and Mike treat you like family for sure. My ole 59 172 looked out place there!!

Pam you're doing a good job at taking over the patrol's punch in the numbers you're getting there. That's because you got a good guy there next to you is playing things to you and make it more easier for you to understand but you're doing a. Good job reaching arm and the number is in where you're going toward your flight. Later on you could be doing all that when you're ha when you're driving air your an airplane. That's what you're why don't you

Another great video! Any idea why/when X26 renumbered 10/28 from 08/26 (and 5/23 from 4/22)? Maybe magnetic North has shifted that much since an older chart I'm looking at came out?

This was actually my first time there so I don’t know when it happened. But I assume it’s from a magnetic shift.

Garmin is mandating a magnetic variation update to the firmware in my G1000 this year, things are indeed changing. My local airport runway 16 is actually 174, I was surprised at how much it's changed. A friend of mine who started flying in the early 60's told me that back then the agonic line was off the east coast of Florida, now it's just east of Lafayette Louisiana.

In the late 1970’s when I was training for my multi at KSYI with the late, great Bob Bomar, he would make me go around any time my nose wheel didn’t touch down on the centerline! You get a COVID pass for not straddling it but I would have deleted the proof!

I have an aviation question. Between Continental and Lycoming is one more reliable than the other? I'm just learning and also wondering about Rotax. Some say Rotax is underpowered and a throwaway engine.

I've read that Lycoming used to (and may still) have a reputation for being more reliable. This is because Continental had a brief period where they were sending out bad engines. Turns out Lycoming was using the exact same parts, but they caught the error before shipping the engines out. Not sure how true it is, but I thought it was interesting. I think most major engine companies are putting out pretty awesome stuff.

Did I see a turbine Velocity in there? Okay, quite honestly, I'm not flying, and I certainly can't afford my own airplane, but if I could, I would be looking at an airplane that you showed at the beginning of the video. I'd love to have a Diamond DA42, one of the newer ones. Same cruise as the Baron, but with a 12 gallon per hour fuel burn of Jet-A? I mean, seriously, can you ask for much better?

I noted that you were flying and handling ATC. Does you wife need to have a private pilot license before she can handle ATC? Or can anyone do ATC?

This isn’t me trying to toot my own horn. I manage an auto service shop. I have a couple who always stops at my service center on their bi-annual trip from down south in winter to Lake Erie in summer. I’m not really on their way. I have one older guy who just tosses me the keys and says “whatever it is, do it.” I have one young single mother who has referred dozens in because of that one time she needed help and we were there........not knowing she was the daughter of a pretty influential CEO...... People who work in customer service don’t always get the thanks they deserve. This video proves...... sometimes the thanks is just seeing that same customer again.
