Spoilers ahead! The Mandalorian 2x05, Chapter 13, "The Jedi" reveals Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano, a live-action version of the fan favorite character from the Star Wars animated series, now living on the planet Corvus. And in the biggest reveal on The Mandalorian since the series began, she explains the true name of the child, Baby Yoda, is Grogu, and that he spent his early years in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant before fleeing with a mystery Jedi after Order 66. Erik Voss explains what this tells us about Star Wars history, and how it connects to other Easter Eggs that we missed from past episodes of The Mandalorian to explain the child's full backstory and timeline. There is a moment between Grogu and Ashoka as Mando is walking up his ship's ramp that makes me believe there's more going on between these two...like it's Grogu making these decisions; Ashoka is just able to translate.

Exactly, I'm not sure how people aren't catching onto that. Every single piece of equipment that Mando gets is also a plot tool. All of it was so neatly laid out in the episode: the toughness of beskar established, beskar melee weapon that can counter lightsabers established, beskar melee weapon in Mando's hands to fight against someone with a lightsaber (or darksaber). It's also laid out in such a nice plot: 1. Hero meets stronger Villain 2. Hero gets stronger and beats Villain 3. Villain comes back and Hero beats Villain again The third one might not happen since it was partially incorporated in season 1 with Mando meeting Gideon and then beating him in the finale, which means that fight against Gideon in this season will be final, which also makes me curious about season 3 since Grogu might be the only major plot element across seasons.

I very much like to think that it was supposed to be Luke but then The Last Jedi happened. Since TLJ was in theaters some months after the Mandalorian had begun production. But that would probably take some heavy de-aging anyway because it's set only some 5 years after RoTJ, so probably not.

His memory went dark because he was litterally left in the darkness of his transportation egg, and any light he did see he was experimented on. So literally and figuratively dark. ALSO, I think it was Mace Windew who took Grogu out of the Temple. Mace would have been the only one with enough foresight and cunning to get in and out of the temple during the height of order66. While I want to make sure I am clearly stating that I try hard not to be a "sequel hater", I couldn't help but think that this one episode was more satisfying than the sequels in some strange way.

@@gonzodelphiki2083 I appreciate your statement; sometimes it’s hard to be a Star Wars fan and say you like the sequels and love Rey’s character and have a ton of toxic fanboys gatekeep and tell you that you’re not a real fan :((( my two favorite characters are Rey and Ahsoka so it’s hard when I see people comparing them and hating on one! I just love them both, for different character growth and motivation reasons, personally :) I respect your opinion, I know not everyone will feel the way I do!

If Din Djarin brings Grogu to the seeing stone in the Jedi temple on Tython and Grogu does reach out using the force, I believe there’s a big chance Ezra will be the one to receive Grogu’s message. If not it’s likely that Luke will respond

As morbid as it seems I kinda hope Vader ended up finishing the job. As cool as it would be to see cal kestis in the mandalorian. Vader has to kill one of these untrained Jedi knights and complete his mission otherwise it diminishes his character and his impact.

I don’t know if anyone caught this, but when Ashoka mentions Yoda, you can hear a little piece of Yodas Theme in the background. I think it’s really cool how they sneak in this little musical things, they’re so awesome.

Because they won't be able to do the stunts and fights with the big thing flopping around. Also Rebels had a very stylized look and faces are longer than usual (maul).

My theory about yoda’s species is that the species is the embodiment of the Jedi, like the Jedi race sort of like the sith race and mandalorian race which became creeds rather than a people

Perhaps Grogu was placed in suspended animation for his own safety (so other Force users couldn't pick up on his presence), which is why his memories are black and also why he is still childlike all these years later. Maybe whoever was protecting him then died and was unable to revive him. That is, until the raiders did so accidentally when they salvaged whatever was left of the ship/building where he was "sleeping".

Ok so I just came up with an odd theory. Y’all hear me out. I believe that it is canonical that the Jedi council would sometimes allow certain Jedi to have children and families based on the current state of their species. I don’t know if this is correct, but I think Ki Adi Mundi was one such Jedi. If I remember correctly, he had a family who we would periodically see because his species was nearly extinct. Now listen to this. We’ve only ever seen three yodalings, as the fandom currently calls them, in the entirety of the Star Wars saga. It would not be a stretch to say that this species of heavily endangered. So, would the Jedi council have permitted Yoda and Yaddle, a male and female, to have a child to preserve their species? I have a theory that this child is non other than Grogu, the son of Yaddle and Yoda. What do y’all think?

Based on the silly but canon premise that Anakin was conceived without a father, and since the baby is the same age as Anakin, couldn't the baby have a similar origin? Yaddle's kid, but the father was not Yoda - he probable would have been way too old

@@rosabellavitaalvarez-calde5836 definitely possible. It would depend on how the biology of Yodalings works. For example, human males can reproduce their whole lives unless they contract some sort of reproductive disease. But yes, Yaddle definitely could have done that.

If Fallen Order is canon then it provides us with a potential answer as for where Grogu was going after order 66. In the game, when the Mantis lands on Bogano Cal remarks to Cere "so the empire didn't know about this place", to which Cere says "no". It is possible that Grogu was taken to Bogano to be hidden
