This was the first break thru song that put them on the international map.They were supposed to perform on a side stage in front of about 3000 but when it was announced they were there, the response was so strong they were moved to the main stage in front of about 50000. Most of the people in that crowd had no idea who they were. They were afraid they might get bottled off stage given the history of the festival and what they did to bands they didn't like. But by the time the girls finished there set the crowd was chanting we want more and there merch sold out and the band was searched on the internet 3 times more then all of the other bands combined.And the rest is history

That's probably not a fanatic in the beginning, this guy probably didn't even know who BABYMETAL was before this concert. That's their breakthrough concert, only their 3rd overseas concert after 2 small concerts in small venues in Germany and France. It's just a random metalhead in a metalfestival being a metalhead :). You see a lot of those at metal concerts/festivals. Remember this is a big metal festival where hundreds of groups perform and BABYMETAL was nowhere near close to get 60k people just to see them. This was early in the day too and the big groups only come progressively as the day fades to the evening. The girls were actually scared that nobody would show up but you can see the satisfaction grin on Su-Metal's face during the song that she knows that they came, they saw, they conquered. Legend has it they outsold every other band at the merchandising stores that festival. And that festival included bands like : Iron Maiden, Deftones, Slayer, Limp Bizkit, Prodigy and many other well known bands. They were supposed to play at a small side stage but were instead bumped up to the mainstage and for that they received (the organizers aswell as BABYMETAL) a lot of heavy criticism and frowns - there were even talks online about throwing bottles of piss on them. Initially, they expected to have a small side-stage with a few thousands people and it ended up being the main-stage with an unexpecting 60k crowd. Veni, Vidi, Vici.

They booked a small side stage but the organizers bumped them to the main stage. The girls were terrified of having bottles thrown at them by the UK metal heads, as they have done to acts they don't like. There were a few fans in the crowd, but most had no idea who they were. They were all waiting to see the headliners, but were shouting "We want more!" at the end. That's the power of BABYMETAL!

They walk on stage at one of our (UK) biggest Metal fests with hardly any of the 65,000 fans that the festival holds knowing of them. By the end of their less than an hour long show, most of the crowd (who were waiting for Metallica to headline later) were screaming for more. Babymetal apparently sold more merchandise over the 3 days of the festival than any other band and won the hearts of a new audience while breaking into the European Metal scene. Epic.

This is where history was made that day for BABYMETAL the way they won over the crowd. To hear the crowd chanting WE WANT MORE at the end must of made them very happy. And YUI-CHAN still rocking it live with a torn outfit, classic. BABYMETAL 4 LIFE

with this being their first major show outside Japan they didn't know what to expect. but in some of the fan cam videos I think it was in gimmie chocolate, there is a look on Su's face that she realized she had them. in that song at this show she got the crowd to sing gimmie chocolate in Japanese. do you know how hard it is to get a crowd to sing in another language? but she did it. 5 songs that changed metal forever.

Haha. People say this is the song that turned the tide but they were already forming circle pits before the song even started. These people were on board already. They were relatively unknown in Europe at this time.

Their performance here became known as "the 30 minute miracle at Sonisphere".

This one won't get blocked - or it would be very surprising if it did. The crowd knew to get ready for a wall of death because right before this song they showed a short animation ... and in that Su told them the Fox God had said "Wall Of Death". Pretty much nobody there (apart from maybe a few fans) knew Babymetal or the song though - they went early and should have waited for Su's scream and for Yui and Moa to start their sprint across the stage. This was their first appearance at a major event outside of Asia. They opened the main stage in front of 60,000 UK metalheads waiting to see bands like Anthrax and Iron Maiden. Most of them didn't have a clue what they were about to see, a few had heard Babymetal was a "gimmick/joke band mocking metal" and there were rumours they would be throwing bottles, so the girls were worried about that - then from backstage they couldn't see the crowd and were worried about what to do if nobody had come to see them at all. As their set progressed (they played 5 or 6 songs, this was the finale) the puzzled looks turned to smiles and it spread quickly from front to back as more people accepted what was happening and just enjoyed the show. They had the biggest mosh pits of the weekend and their merch outsold all the other bands there. Su was 16, Yui and Moa had only just celebrated their 15th birthdays, they were in a country for the first time where they didn't speak the language and were singing in Japanese.

This is the stuff of Legend as Grington said in his story . In my opinion this performance is Legendary . BabyMetal have been huge in the UK doing epic performances at festivals and sold out shows. Everywhere they go the same thing happens even people not fans become fans after seeing them live 🤘😃🤘

IDZ is my over all favorite. It ticks all the boxes. Great guitar solos, the drummer is crazy, Su-Metal sounds fantastic and really belts out the notes, the vocal parts and choreography for Yui and Moa is so good and cute. Now THAT is how you win over a massive crowd of metalheads who apparently weren't happy about Babymetal being in the line-up. I have not been close to any of their tours, so unable to see them live. I met a lady who was on her way to a Babymetal US concert, and I envied her to pieces.

When you go to your first BabyMetal concert on their next US tour, be sure to introduce yourself to fellow members of The One as the guy in the pit who breaks his tailbone at the start of Iine at Sonisphere in 2014. I bet a lot of us would buy you a beer. We also may laugh at you, but hey, a free beer!

Wow, kinda surprised you hadn't watched this epic and iconic performance yet but great reaction!
