If you want more Progressive sound from BABYMETAL, check out Syncopation and Tales of the Destinies. If you love to hear nasty heavy breakdowns, you might also enjoy songs like Catch me if you Can or YAVA! Just be sure to try and watch a live version of any of these, as the studio versions just never do them justice!

I should have mentioned also, if you do Tales, the only live performance was from their Tokyo Dome show in 2016. If you choose to watch this, I highly recommend watching this song and the follow-up song "The One" as these songs are really meant to be heard together. Enjoy!

Babymetal have used just about every genre of Metal, apart from inventing their own Kawaii Metal. Like Melodic Death Metal? Try 'B-A-B-Y-M-E-T-A-L DEATH' live at Legend 97. Power Metal? Try their western breakout first appearance at a Metal fest in front of 60,000 Metalheads, 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai'. Symphonic Power Metal (with a guitar duet)? Try Akatsuki. The list goes on...🦊🤘🤘🤘

Glad you enjoyed it. Just wanted to say, in case it was on your mind, that while all the official videos with live footage uses the studio audio (with only Road of Resistance live M/V being the exception), Babymetal always sings live at concerts with very minimal backing track. And they spare no expense on their production at their big shows in Japan!

Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 Thanks for this double set reaction, you don't wanna miss one of SuMetal's favorite from this album. I like the progressive metal elements and that nasty heavy breakdown. There's also a reference to Macbeth in the lyrics besides the obvious lines famously known by Snow White tale. Here's some official info: Mirror Mirror (MIRROR) _Mirror, mirror on the wall...this song embodies a parallel world where the world inside the mirror and the world of reality go back and forth._ _Is what you see in the mirror your true self or the self you wish to be?_ Last month they started the Sabaton's Europe Tour and recently they finished the live tour, everyone were having a blast and they will come back to Europe at the end of the year, this World Tour is gonna be awesome, the US will get another live shows with the Babyklok Tour along with Dethklok and they will be part of more festivals shows. This was at BabyMetal Begins - The Other One live at PIA Arena MM, Yokohama last April 2nd, this is the first concert with MomoMetal being the official member, she has been the third backup dancer since 2019 and now she finally become part of the trio officially, we all proud of her. The Western Kami Band is also playing there and this live tour, they're with the girls since 2019 and slay every live show too. The rest of the album tracks are already available in their own channel, so get ready for more interesting tracks to dive in with this more mature sound and a BM side we've never seen before. I know we recommend you Tales Of The Destinies as another progressive metal song you may like but here's another you wanna check it out: - "Monochrome" official lyrics video. See you next time!🦊🤘🪞

Great reaction again. Jake Muller has already explained when and where this was filmed and about the new third member Momometal. I already suggested 'Tales of the Destinies' from their second album for another reaction, I will add 'The One' to that suggestion. The two songs began life as one but were separated quite early in the writing process, but they do share some themes and they go together. TotD is full on Prog Metal (that was how Mike Portnoy described it), 'The One' is more of a Prog ballad and is dedicated to the fans (also dubbed as The One by the girls) and is effectively their love letter to the fans. From the first album I will also suggest 'Rondo of Nightmare' live at Budokan Black Night in 2014 with the 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods' instrumental intro by the Kami Band. I think that will surprise you as it is one of their early songs, but shows they were not just singing about chocolate even then. From the third album maybe 'Distortion' live at Download 2018 in the UK will appeal to you and then there are the three songs that make up the Trilogy of Lights (describing the stages of mourning we go through after losing somebody close ... we can tell you a lot more about these if you do decide to do reactions) 'Starlight, 'Shine' and 'Arkadia'.

@@musikbyjh I second everything he said. But if I had to choose only one song, it would be 'Tales of the Destinies' (either live at Tokyo Dome (performed live only once) or studio album audio version) since you like prog metal...and that song is Dream Theater vibes, then 'Rondo of Nightmare with 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods' intro - live at Budokan Black Night" from 2014". I think you would love the band's solos in that intro.

Hey, The One, we hooked him! Ha ha! Glad you gave BM the 3 song chance. I'm sure others will give you great suggestions as to the next songs that are more prog metal. But as you know, they touch on a whole bunch of other genres too, so give them a chance and it'll broaden what awesome diversity of songs they to you. You can also watch a few of their more milestone performances, like the Sonisphere performances in the UK, or at Download. I'll also tell you this, each concert they perform is different (minus a road tour, which they also have different setlist for different cities/counties). So no two concerts will be the same, which also means, no two performances of the same song will be exactly the same. I did forget to mention one other thing in your previous video reaction. The three girls were also still performing in Sakura Gakuin, their jpop idol parent group, while performing as Babymetal. So they were performing in two groups still while attending their regular schools. That's a major feat in my book especially at that age. If and when you have time, you don't have to record a reaction, watch this video of Suzuka Nakamoto's graduation concert (lead singer of Babymetal) from 10 years ago. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7Scnqp7y7_Mqok.html Turn on subtitles. So she was performing in both groups for 3 years until she 'graduated' out of SG at 15 years old. The other two girls remained in SG for another 2 years before they graduated out. Sakura Gakuin is a jpop idol group, and they performed regularly at festivals, tv shows, and several headlining concerts every year. The graduation concert was a full concert, a full graduation ceremony, and an encore performance of 2 songs. All three Babymetal girls are in this performance. I know jpop most likely doesn't interest you, but watch the girls' expressions as they sing the last song they will ever perform together with their most senior 'sister', who was the student council president (basically the leader of the group). Every graduation is emotional for both the other girls and the fans of Sakura Gakuin. I hope this gives you a glimpse into the roots of Babymetal, and how much the performance attitudes the girls learned from SG is carried on into Babymetal. This is why Babymetal is something to experience, not just listened to. And why watching them being so happy on stage performing for the audience makes the audience leave the venue happy and charged. One last tidbit of info: The choreographer for Sakura Gakuin (Mikiko Mizuno) was also the choreographer for Babymetal. She had never heard metal music before, nor had done any choreo to it before. That's why the choreo is fresh and different from anything else ever done. Please enjoy your continuing BM journey!

Others will mention that this was studio audio over Live concert footage. And as Grington300 300 said previously, their other most prog song is Tales Of The Destinies. To me though, you really can't go wrong with any BABYMETAL. Yes Gimme Chocolate isn't their best song but it still hit HARD live. Just for fun maybe watch it one more time but from the Stephen Colbert show where they performed it live in 2016. You might like Distortion and Syncopation a lot as well. Other popular request will be Headbanger, Ijime Dame Zettai (do the 2014 Sonisphere in UK version to hear true live audio and a historic day in BABYMETAL history), and Megitsune for sure. 🤘🦊🤘

I bet you'd really like most of their newest album...maybe not all of it, but enough to make it worth your while. The breakout track from the new record seems to be Monochrome, and the official lyric video for it is one of the only times I'd suggest a video from them that isn't a live performance. Another suggestion would be to check out 'Katrate' Live at Download UK 2016. Stellar performance and you'd get to see them in front of a western crowd.

Something I tell every metalhead that is going down the foxhole for the first time: Dont stop at one song, or even two, or heck even three. BABYMETAL is one of the most diverse bands/groups you will ever hear. They have produced music in just about every possible subgenre of metal, fusing it with pop, synth, dance, even rap (yes Su can rap). So when I tell you that even if Mirror Mirror, one of their newest songs btw, just released a couple months ago, is the ONLY song you truly ever like from this band, then they have reached you in the exact way they intended. And that is all they want. To reach everyone. They have over 50 songs, some covers (they even performed Painkiller and Breaking the Law with Rob Halford himself as well as without him), and not a single one is like any of the others. You like progressive metal? Give Tales of the Destinies a go. It has over 40 time signature changes, most of them in the first minute, and multiple key and tempo changes as well. To make it even more interesting, they actually performed this song live, one time, in the Tokyo Dome, and it actually somehow, has choreography. Imaging trying to choreograph to any sort of progressive song in the first place. These girls did it. I would HIGHLY recommend you listen and watch that and only that version of the song, I strongly consider it their absolute pinnacle of musicianship. Both in terms of what the band can do, and what the girls themselves can do. You can tell the moment the crowd realizes they are ACTUALLY performing this, something no one thought they could or would do, the roar of appreciation is palpable. It has a very long intro though, just a heads up. But explore, you may very well find several other strong songs that will interest you. I have always said BABYMETAL has not a single bad song, just songs that not everyone will like as much as others. It seems you dont much care for the older original jpop kawaii fusion of their early work. That's okay, they have plenty more to offer. Though, do give the cute side a chance, there are some hella good switches and changeups in some of those older songs that will probably give you that same metal face you got here. If you hear one you dont like and think is too poppy or ridiculous, just play it through, I can think of one off the top of my head that you probably wont like at the beginning due to the same poppy cute feel of GC, but that drop in the middle is going to at least strike that metal nerve. Iine (two i's, not Line), but it has an even harder drop than Mirror Mirror did, and some other twists. Thats part of the BABYMETAL sound, even in ONE song, they might mash up 2-3 different genres or subgenres. I am glad you gave them that second, and now third, chance.

Babymetal is backed by Amuse Inc., the largest talent agency in Japan with very deep pockets (revenues of $337 million as of March 2023). In the beginning, Amuse hardly invested in this group because they were unproven but it changed a few years later when Babymetal gained much more traction. Their huge "special concerts" usually performed only in Japan are something else. I only know of 2 special concerts outside of Japan; the LA Forum, Los Angeles in 2019 and at Wembley Stadium, London 2016. Only a few J-pop idol groups like BiSH are near their level of production. Only Rammstein is at this level of production if not more. The more prog metal sounding Babymetal songs come from their third album, Metal Galaxy (2019): Distortion Syncopation Elevator Girl Kagerou Starlight Shine Arkadia *The last 3, Starlight, Shine, Arkadia are called the trilogy of lights songs. 2nd album, Metal Resistance (2016): Tales of Destinies YAVA! *Has also Ska beat First album, Babymetal (2014): Uki Uki Midnight *Has a Dubstep insert Of course the live performances of these songs are always better than the studio versions.

By hardly, you mean they didn't at all. It wasn't even that they were unproven. Amuse had no interest in some metal group, or any group at all coming out of their first foray into the idol world. They wanted to build up talent that they could then sign for various projects. The idea that an actual musical group would come out of Sakura Gakuin wasn't even in the cards as can be seen with how nothing even remotely like it was created from it. Koba's colleagues thought he was just making some metal parody, and laughed at the idea. It was all Koba that funded it out of pocket early on, and signed them up to play at small venues, and even later festivals. It was only those actions and their growing popularity that Amuse decided it had potential. @@bandiahbal7 They seem to be able to renew their contracts with Amuse every five years, and Yui is still signed with them despite not doing anything. So probably.

Being different and unhinged creative is the point of Babymetal, it's a truly unique group, middle ground between industry idols and passionate band - they have the professionalism and budget and resource, and people to create phenomenal shows, but they're passionate about their art and music, not money/fame driven like typical girl groups/idols who need to competitively keep fans attentions by all the mean they can (weekly shows, social medias, dramas, fan services, sexualization,...) But music/art is just a side product they mass produce (like I know certain Kpop-idol just HATE their great hit because that's just 2 dumb words on repeat) Babymetal will just get on stage, being awesome human beings and great role models, perform a hell of a show ever, then disappear from all public medias like some mythical creatures - they also have many silly wtf songs but they do it really serious creative way (if you really closely check Gimme Chocolate again after the shock value, you'll see the genius mind behind it) and those are inreplacable affectionately fun part of their show beside many serious songs that discover many concept matters, bringing different feelings than typical pop culture music

As Gary Truex below already said, check out Metalizm. IT IS DIFFERENT!! VERY!! But it's my favorite from their new album. And as emperor chop chop said below, Monochrome is stellar and I agree with them that the lyric video is the way to go - they also have a piano version from The First Take which is beatiful - that version is NOT metal unlike the lyric video [it has the lyrics!!]. And it is important to know the lyrics as it's about the nuclear explosion at Hiroshima as that's where the main singer, SU-METAL, is from. You can hear the emotion. They have that massive live production element, but they also have master level musicians and songwriters.. that's NOT something you'll find in pop for sure! I believe when they put this project together they had the mentality of .."if this crazy thing is going to work, EVERY SINGLE element needs to be undeniable!" So they made it undeniable! An aside .. one of the main things that me into this band so much half a year was Su's vocals. Even when she was younger there are so many examples of how incredible and powerful her voice was. Akatsuki (at Budokan Black Night 2014) - First album, perhaps their most popular song. Fantastic performance, even though it's an older one. 2. Syncopation (compilation by "ferr") - Second album, definitely this one. 3. Starlight (compilation by "KuroKiitsuneSama") - Third album, definitely this one. 4. Distortion (at Download 2018) - Third album, outdoors at a festival with some fun crowd interaction as well. 5. Shine (compilation by "ferr") - Third album, calm but powerful song. 6. BxMxC (compilation by "KuroKiitsuneSama") - Third album, you won't find another song like this one, blows the roof off. There is also "No Rain No Rainbow" at Legend S, it's the most beautiful rock ballad I have ever heard, but the video will definitely get blocked unless you make it transparent or similar. It is a really really good performance if you are in the mood to listen to that sort of song. There are several songs I know you would like from the latest album, but there are no live performances of them on KZfaq except for fan cams. These songs are "Divine Attack", "MAYA", "Believing" and "Monochrome" .

It is also safe to say that you would enjoy any of their songs more than Gimmie Chocolate, except for perhaps Song 4 (or "4 no Uta", the Japanese title). That is not to say you would like them all, but at least more than your first encounter.

Thanks for giving Babymetal a couple more tries, and happy you found some that made you smile. If bands like Black Sabbath are in your taste profile, I would definitely suggest Ningen Isu's Heartless Scat.

So Babymetal always liked to mix things up, and sometimes they like to add really nasty breakdowns at random xD I would like to suggest 2 of their oldest songs: they were just getting started, so the songs weren't as refined, but they were having a lot of fan! Here you can find some of the heaviest breakdowns I ever heard :D - "Megitsune" official MV - "Iine" official MV They were really young here, so obviously their voices sounded much younger!

I've left my main comment of RoR, but I just want to add the new album has huuuge variety. My personal favourite is _Monochrome;_ I'm not sure that it would be so much up your street but give it a go at some point anyway.

Great reaction and thanks for giving Babymetal another chance. Gimme Chocolate is one of those Shock videos that gets a lot of views and is the reason why I feel the view count is so high. Another set of songs that might appeal to you would be the live version of Tales of the Destinies which was performed only ONCE Live @ the Tokyo Dome in front of 55,000+ people. Good luck finding a clean video that isn't a chopped up compilation though, because this song gets copy right struck hardcore. Might have to do a Link and Sink to even do it. But since you like a more Progressive technical song you wont find another like this one for a live show. Babymetal has a Habit of paying homage to bands they love and Tales of the Destinies is highly influenced by Dream Theater. Tales of the Destinies is half of a two part song that includes The One which is a ode to the fans of Babymetal which are called The One. So, if it were me doing a reaction; I'd do Tales of the Destinies live @ Tokyo Dome and immediately followed by The One 'official video' which is at a different venue, but the production was incredible. The One was also played just after Tales of the Destinies @ Tokyo Dome, so either one is great but the reaction would be quite a bit longer. for the Tokyo Dome performance.👔 (closest I could get to a Neck brace) Hope you keep falling down the Fox Hole for us. You react to a Babymetal Video and for sure we will watch it good or bad we will enjoy it all the same. Keep 'em comin'.

Yesssss....... watching your 2 reaction to babymetal in row. Again, Yui fans here ❤❤❤..!! I really really enjoyed it, always love when a musician a composer or a song writer react to or analyze them. I wish for Arkadia, All 4 of Black Babymetal songs, Awadama Fever and BxMxC for the next reactions. Even though iam not huge fans of new babymetal but thank you to welcoming them into your channel ❤.

You mentioned how you like how they are dressed and you don't know what it is that you like about their dress. I can't say for certain, but I THINK it is that they don't sexualize themselves like most western bands do. Not all, but many of them do. Anyhow, I mentioned in your road of resistance reaction, but I think you'll like Tales of Destinies by Babymetal. It is from their earlier stuff, but it is VERY proggy and has heavy Dream Theater influence. Anyhow, glad to see you're enjoying them. Not because we were right, but because it's always awesome to find a new band you like :)

As I said after your GIMME CHOCOLATE reaction, that was the worst possible song to start off with (and they have over 60 songs, so it was like a critical miss!). You should do MONOCHROME, MAYA off the new album and then fall back and do "BABYMETAL DEATH, Legend 1997" (must be that PARTICULAR version!) Your mind will be freaking blown.. guaranteed. I have been a metal musician for over 40 years and this is my favorite band and it's for a reason. Soon you'll know why! Kitsune dao!
