History repeats itself and haters are going to hate. Since the beginning of 3rd gen K-POP, the debut song of every YG created group (Winner, iKon, Blackpink, Treasure, Babymonster) follows the signature YG sound and style. This is done on purpose to acknowledge what their seniors have built and to show that they are a part of that YG Family legacy. The debut music video will also have easter eggs and homages towards their seniors. The subsequent songs from the group are the actual indicators of what that YG group's concept and sound will be. Basically, their debut song shows they are a part of the YG family and their second song shows why they are different from the other YG groups. Because of this adherence to the YG formula for the debut song, every new YG group gets hate and criticism for being an unoriginal copy of the previous gen group and the song gets marginalized as being the pervious group's rejected song. The amount of hate significantly increases the newer the group is from 2nd gen YG. Seeing all the hate about "Batter Up" being unoriginal and being a rejected Blackpink song, simply reminds me of when Blackpink debuted and they were hated and criticized for being an unoriginal copy of 2NE1 with their song "Boombayah" being hated as a rejected 2NE1 song. History repeats itself.

They’ve been pretty upfront about their game plan. Mini album dropping April 1st, full album expected this fall and they bumped up their in-house producers from 10 or so to somewhere between 40 and 50 so all YG artists should benefit.

It is already customary to throw hate at Yg artists and say that they have no talent Ironic that all the artists of that agency at the time have been references of their generation and role models. You may have many complaints and claims about Yg, but the fact that he knows how to choose trainers and develop his talent is indisputable.
